After this blizzard, I’m investing in one.

My friend recommended this one, but it’s not near me.
Amazon has it for $1k (double the price of HD)

Any other recommendations (Amazon preferred) for a bullet proof one, that’ll handle our crazy snow levels when needed?

Not sure what your budget is, but if you want a blower that will move some snow and last forever, go with a Honda. Ariens makes a decent blower as well but a notch or two down from the Honda in my opinion.

I had a Craftsman for a couple years- never again. Replaced it with a 28” Honda with tracks and it’s a beast- will grind right through a frozen Minnesota snowbank without a sweat.

There are a couple Hondas on Amazon right now...

I’ve got a 1982 MTD 5/24 that still moves the snow after almost 40 years. Chewed up 20” yesterday. 69B9CB11-B9A6-4FD3-94B3-9C0B3B9A3F7A.jpg

I have the Troy Bilt 2410 from Home Depot and it did well today going through what the blizzard left in Thornton.

Just saw your budget post- Honda is pricey. Last one you’ll probably have to buy though

I’ve had Craftsmen, Honda and now Ariens. I like the Ariens the best. Stay away from Craftsman. Whatever you do stay away from plastic chutes and plastic in general. And try not to but anything with a bunch of cables controlling things.

I bought the Ariens SHO platinum 24 inch and it’s a tank.

I'll hop on with the Honda.

Sold my tracked HS55 last year after I bought a tractor with a front mount blower. It was a 1985 model my grandmother bought brand new, sold it to a co-worker.

They are expensive but local dealers may have used trade in models and I wouldn't pass up a decent used one from another person either.

How long have you had it and how much snow are you going through with it?

We have that Troy-Built snow blower at work. It has served us well.

We talked about getting a snow blower this past summer when they are cheap. We won’t miss an opportunity again.

Ariens 22" compact 2 stage has been solid since $500 craiglist buy 6 years ago...so it's around 8 years old. It's not so wide so stores a bit easier. It's discontinued looks like 24" is their smallest now. Mostly I'm using in 2-6" snows here but have used it in 12" and albeit it was slower going it didn't struggle...any deeper the drift cutter attachment would probably be useful. This season it started on first pull every time (using ethanol free gas) but for whatever reason every now and then I over prime it or something and hook up the power cord to give it heck with the electric starter. That V8 snowblower pic above is freakin awesome lol.

Id stay away from any snowblower where the chute control is a joystick. They always break. And definitely none of that push handle speed control junk. My dad has had his Ariens for 15+ years now and it starts first pull. Ariens on tracks is ideal but pretty pricey. I’d agree with the Honda and Ariens statement for being top dogs. One thing to consider is ease of access to belts and other maintenance items. Ariens it’s like 4 bolts on the shroud and the belts are right there. Something to consider. Good luck and enjoy researching!

The last serious deep snow here in Denver Metro was in 2003. Hmmmm......18 years ago. Why buy a snow blower that you will rarely use? Lowe's and Ho Depot hope you think we get this deep 2 day wet crap snow every year. I have 6 coworkers born and raised here and not one has a snow blower...........................

Up here in the Great White North, the most popular are Honda if you can afford them and Ariens as a more budget friendly close second. Generally people who can't afford either end up buying sub-$500 cheapos, use them for a couple seasons until they break, sell them for $100 on marketplaces, rinse and repeat.

.....and?????? I thought you were the Hulk? Get a big snow shovel and save some money! I'm 65 and cleared out the snow with a snow shovel. Sucked but zero $ spent.

Simplicity and Ariens are very popular in the northeast. I’ve had both I like the simplicity best as they have a Briggs engine, the new Ariens have Chinese made engines. Older Ariens have the Briggs engine. They are both good. Good luck with your search. I bought a used Ariens with a Briggs engine and runs great.

Is your driveway flat? Mine is on a hill and my next one will have tracks. Yamaha, IMO is as good or better than Honda in the snowblower world. I just went to look and see Yamaha USA doesn’t carry them. We get them here in Canada.

my father has a toro and it throws the snow very far. All those mtd owned brands are crap if you have serious winters, stay away

I have Dad's old Cub Cadet as he bought a Honda.

If you can swing one....get a Honda or at minimum, Honda engine.

For the most part, I hand shovel, even here in Winnipeg. It's a pain to pull out, fire up, maintain etc.

Lol I have several. Biggest one is 32” wide but it’s a better pusher, than shoveler.
Keep in mind, I try and help out elderly neighbors on the corner. That’s a lot of sidewalk.

I have a craftsman’s with Brigs and Stratton motor that was given to me. Been awesome machine. Starts on the 1st pull every time.
But as the guys say Honda is the very best, no other snow throwing machine can touch it. Buy once cry once.
