I bought that one! lol thanks for the link. Army Green looks so much better in person. Couldn't resist. Dealer was good too. I'll add some mods to it over the coming months. Mainly suspension, wheels, and I'd like to put in the OEM LED headlights over the halogen it came with.

As for an answer to the original question I posted. Whatever stock you see on the lot might be it. A lot of uncertainty on production due to Covid and supply issues. If you're looking for the (most likely) last of the 5.7 iForce V8's now is your chance.

I may have jumped the gun if the next gen 2022 DOES get the V8 option, but I am happy with my choice.

My dealer yesterday was pretty emphatic about the V8 being gone. I led him to it, but he absolutely doubled down on it being V6TT with and without hybrid.

I ordered a new nightshade limited which will be here middle of April. I am however in the minority. I want the truck for it’s size but not so much for capability. I’d be a perfect candidate for an efficient v6 or hybrid option.

Glad to hear you bought the truck! my wife loves her Army Green and once its ceramic coated its truly beautiful.

There are more incoming trucks, but its like drops in the bucket compare to last year, which was already bad compare to 2019.

Keep in mind in 2020 the sales of Tundra in Canada WENT UP compare to 2019 by almost 10-15%, 2019 was about 9,966 Tundra sold, while 2020 was 11,053

In Canada? I've never seen a dealer around me have 15 Tundras available in normal times.

I think its going to be an interesting model year for the Tundra.

Component shortages, an anticipated revamp and losing the V8 are all going to create an unusual supply/demand situation.

Dealers very well may be over-ordering, anticipating demand for the V8 - especially on lower grades. Buyers of the SR model are likely to favor the 21, where buyers of the more feature laden models might be more attracted to the 2022.

Transition to new model year is traditionally labor day weekend. Last orders due by July 4th and last ship date around Labor day. Of course nothing is "normal" - if the components are there - they will build 2021s until they are done. It wouldn't surprise me to see a "late 2021" with some minor changes and the old body style going into early 2022.

Shipping of 2022s is going to be tricky. You gotta have a couple for everyone - so dealers have something to sit on showroom floors to sell orders off of...and logic says those will be higher grade/more profitable vehicles. If you want a base - you might be waiting well into May 2022 for delivery on the "new" 2022s.

Yea thanks! It's a great colour. Too bad you couldn't get it on all trims like in the US. But honestly the Trail Edition, although skimpy on options, nearly ticks all my boxes of wants...and still comes with TSS which is a nice bonus.

As far as stock goes, it just sounds like a lot of shoulder shrugging from the dealers. My experience over the last month is if you really want to get a 2021 and see one you like, then you should probably scoop it up now.

In Alberta the big dealers will have 20-30 in front of the showroom at peak times, then the same amount or double in their locked yards.

Dealers in Ontario can put in orders, but they DO NOT always get them, as an example, dealer A wants 30 Rav 4, 10 of them hybrid, 10 of them in venture, 5 FWD, 5 in Limited trim, various colors, you can put that order into the request, but what you may get in 2 weeks tend to be something like 20 Rav 4's, 10 of them are FWD and in white, 2 in limited trim, 1 Hybrid, and rest are whatever mix Toyota made that week, but the good thing is you can log in and see what everyone got, so the dealers just begin trading cars amongst themselves to get the right car customers want, or they discount them heavily to move the ones no one wants.

2022 introduction is within next several weeks, production is going to be Q4 of 2021, they are already ramping up Alpha & Beta batch, 2021 hard stop will be by September/October, and I can firmly tell you there will literately be no base models made in the first 12 months, base trims model tend to make the least amount of money and with lowest demand, Tundra don't have much fleet buyers, so there's no incentives to produce them in the beginning.

Yes, should mention my experience is in US, dealers in Canada might have different experience.

And yes - US/Canada or just about anywhere - Toyota (or any manufacturer) will typically take your order- but fulfillment is a while different story. No guarantees ever - I mean its not like they are going to restart a line to build 5 or 10 more just because some dealer wants them. Once they are finished - they are finished.

No bases within a year - always possible, I mean walk out on your nearest dealer lot and count the SR5 to SR ratio. ..probably 10:1 or so if they have an SR at all. No its not a big fleet seller unlike say an F150 XL.

If as speculated the SR5 gets a V6 and the higher trims get the V6 turbo - what incentive is there to build/sell SR up front ? I mean the features you add to get an SR5 aren't costly to add - but command several thousand more on the sticker. Thats profit to the manufacturer- and first rule of sales is set your ask based on demand/market capacity to pay....if everyone else was 35% higher on price - you can be sure Toyota would be 34 999% just a hair below the 2nd lowest comp is the best spot to be in.

Storm Trooper Shift Knob. BMF BATL Wheels.

Typical tooling change over occurs in July, So that would typically be the end of production. Not sure if Toyota is on that same tool change over schedule, but I would say they are. You are probably right on the edge of being able to still order a 2021 and get it before production ends. You might even be too late and only able to choose from what is on the lot.

Sorry if I don't understand, are you saying that it makes sense to have base model available during launch or not?

Slightly earlier on the change over this year.

Yea things don't quite work the same here to say the least. It's very slim pickins. Check out the Toyota Canada website to see our limited selection of models, options and colours compared to the USA.

Makes more sense, the Alberta oil guys and trucks stereotype is a real thing. I'm in southern Ontario, as of today a dealer with 5 Tundras on the lot is a big selection...

LOL - I have never seen in person an SR trim truck since I bought my first Tundra in Jan 2009, and I've spent a LOT of time trolling the lots during my various service visits.

Inventory definitely looks less than a month ago, a 250KM radius shows a whopping 14 2021's available.

Next batch for Canada is not until April I think, the chip shortage and ice storm did a number to the inventory, then there's going to be shortage on seats next month, working in automotive industry right now is like a never ending emotional roller coaster.

Not to purposely resurrect my own thread, but as of today only 6 2021 Tundras available within a 250km radius. Seems like the it's game over for Gen 3. Anyone order one from the dealer lately? Details....

Deliveries are mostly Thursday and Fridays for southern Ontario, I think last week I saw 7 left the depot, there may be 3 more incoming batches or so but that's about it.

There are still preallocated builds going directly to dealers still from what I understand, though they are few and far between. I would imagine they will dry up soon but wouldn't be surprised if they are still showing up into Nov and possibly Dec. Only time will tell.

gotcha, I have a deposit on an MGM PRO that was supposed to be built july 10th, its been supposedly built, but is "missing a part". In the meantime the dealer was allocated another PRO in lunar rock with a build date of 9/12, they offered me that one as well, trying to decide what I should do.

That's a tough choice though can't go wrong with either. Considering the lunar rock would be the only 3rd Gen ever offered in that color I'd be inclined to go that route myself.

Yeah I'm leaning that way as well, was just hoping to pick one up sooner rather than later to avoid any more part shortages or production cancellations.

3rd gen (current gen) will be build for another minimum 40 days before the production stops for good.

September is really late build date for a Pro, I'd take earlier date or whatever is available.

Why would they still be allocating trucks if they are going to stop.

I've spoken with 5 dealerships this week in the NE area that all were just allocated PROs

The part not being available sounds so odd. Wonder if it was some how damaged and needs repair or a defect that needs replacement?
