I had an idea for my tundra when i finally get one... Running rhino lining or a similar product down the side of the tundra with some kind of design (kinda like the raptor) since the bottom 1/4 takes most of the road abuse. Anyone considered or already did this mod? If you have I would love to see pics.

Dunno. Running boards and mud flaps have protected my truck. There’s also chip guard integrated into the lower 1/4 of the truck.

Think that would peel and chip down the road = lower resale value of the truck, not to mention how it would look once it has some age. No going back from something like that unless you strip it and repaint the entire truck.

Forget the name but there is place that makes magnetic overlays but they weren't cheap

^goat armor is that magnet overlay your talking about

As for painting a design with rhino line ...I don’t think it would look good over time

Besides Toyota already reinforces that area, if you rub your hand down there you will feel the texture

My truck still looks good in that area after almost 20 years and 230k miles. I can’t comment on 2nd and 3rd gens though. Also, where you drive is important. My driving is 95% asphalt, 5% off road.

Did my 4runner 10 years ago and as you can tell I haven't babied it at all and it's held up. It's dirty but when it's clean it's still very black with no chips

I did the same with an XJ I had years back. Having the bottom foot or so bedlined was awesome! You couldn’t hurt that stuff.
