The lack of consideration for others pervades every aspect of our lives and it continues to get worse. Shopping carts in the middle of the isle oblivious to others trying to get by? Sitting at green light fiddling with your phone making others behind you miss the light? Running your loud ass exhaust in your souped up RAM or Camaro or cutting people off to get somewhere 15 seconds quicker? Being generally unappreciative of everyday things that others do for us, like they owe it to us?

Welcome to the modern world and for letting me vent this morning. Damn, I'm an old cranky SOB.

That's on the list for the shorter outages. The generator is mainly for longer outages (1+ days) to keep the fridge/freezer cold, power some lights, and charge all of the kids devices.

We stayed at a no hookups national park and some rich guy rolls in with his buddy, new truck new trailer, new tv, new generator. They ran the generator all evening with he tv up for the deaf old guy in the group.

I 100% don't mind them coming on mid day or so to charge batteries or run the ac for a bit. When camp fires start the generators should stop.

Some parks now have designated times for generators, hour in the morning, hour before dark. Seems like a fair compromise.

I have a Honda 4500 super quiet that I bought 20+ years ago. The best generator I have ever owned. Just put a new battery in it and it cranked right up after not being used for several years. Only problem is the damn thing is now to heavy to pick up and put in the bed of my truck. The thing weighs 300 lbs. full of fuel. It has now become my backup home generator. Just picked up 2 Predator generators with a parallel kit from Harbor Freight. They weigh 47 lbs. each and are just as quiet as my Honda.

    Thanks again for the information...
If 2 of those Yamaha can be linked together it might be worth it. The more I research these it seems like many of the less expensive units have the same engine and are all coming out of the same factory in China. They slap a different color case on rebrand them.

We had a situation here in Oregon recently where ice destroyed many trees and power lines. My family lives in town and we lost power for almost four days. We saved our food by putting ice in our freezer and refrigerators. People who live in the country were out electricity for over 2 weeks. The lineman are still replacing lines and it’s been a month since our storm. My father lives in Dallas Texas. He just went through a week of freezing weather and also doesn’t have a generator. He is lucky to have a limited amount of damage to his plumbing.
This is when I heard my neighbors generators humming all around me, and I knew the next time someone like this happened I wanted to be better prepared.

I recognize that generators are loud, but they certainly can save your bacon.

Definitely a ton of choices to choose from. I'm just glad my RV ac unit only pulls a 1000 watts.
