How are the tool box and locks holding up?
I just ordered a Knaack box and one of the ABUS locks that you found. Thanks for the research on these locks!

 

Really well. I love having the box. Keeps my cab free of things I carry daily.

 

All I can say is make sure you mount the box permanently because you can put all the toughest locks in but all it takes is someone with a few strong buddies to pull up next to you with their truck and rip the tailgate off and slide yours out into theirs. So then they can take it to a nice quiet spot. I never park alone in the city unless I can see the truck and if I can’t see it the truck goes to valet and the customer gets charged for it because I don’t care how much the customer pays it won’t cover the cost of being down and having to replace 10k worth of tools. As for the other trucks and trailers they have double locks and triple so if some one breaks into the trailer they have to break into separate cabinets for each tool. It’s the slowdown that helps not the security. I’ve broken into cars, homes, and buildings with out leaving damage around which doesn’t take long but it’s like your never there, but a thief that needs a fix and doesn’t care on how it gets done they’ll do more damage than just stealing your tools or whatever it is and you’ll be screwed with that as-well so make sure you make it as hard and as intimidating as possible to get your stuff. It also helps to have safe guards in place so like extra stainless steel in the lid placed differently to stop a carbon wheel and slow down a diamond wheel even throw galvanized in there to hurt a guy with a torch. Mutually assured destruction works for nukes that works for me. The last piece of advice is park on a federal property I had a buddy that’s a tribal member and he let leave stuff at his one house people around him were scared of him and outsiders couldn’t get in. F the guys that use storage spaces that was the real secure spot if they stole from him it’s a federal crime and the tribes don’t go lightly on people don’t like.
