    Greetings,

    New to the forum.

I have a 2015 Crew Max limited, and the illumination at night is poor. I installed some LED bulbs, but they're almost worse.

I have terrible night vision, so I'm after the best illumination I can get.

    Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

It's going to be HID or LED. Complete game changer. New bulbs and the outdated projector are a lipstick on a pig phenomenon. Best to get a whole new assembly. OEM, Morimoto, etc. Oh and welcome aboard!

Swapping to LED bulbs is almost always worse than the original halogens because the reflectors are designed to focus a tiny single point light source. LEDs have a larger die size or multiple diodes, which results in a much larger, uncontrolled beam pattern. It's much like a flashlight with high lumen output but low candela, meaning it's not focused.

For a 2015 you should take a look at getting the OEM LED headlights, plus a wiring harness from iHacker (a member on this forum). Here is a link to the thread about his wiring harnesses: https://www.tundras.com/threads/201...lay-harness-for-2014-2020-models-v-2-0.24416/. Don't bother with any other harnesses on the market.

For the headlights you'll want the 81110-0C211 and 81150-0C211 (TRD Pro LED gloss black housings).

Some people may suggest the morimoto xb headlights but if you do a little searching they have a lot of problems, cost WAY more, and while the low beams have slightly higher candela than the OEM LEDs, nothing compares to the performance of the OEM LEDs for high beams. The OEM LEDs offer much better performance over the halogens, as well.

Yup, OEM LEDs is the way to go. I did Led bulbs and xenon retrofit, but both were terrible experience. Retrofit "expert" did really crappy job, so after $600 and my original lights had to be thrown out, i bought OEM LED headlights through @Roman and couldn't be happier

I've done the morimoto projector retrofit route on other vehicles and picked their full enclosure over the oem headlights this time. I wanted a fully sealed led enclosure and preferred the look. The light spread and cutoff are better for what I need (close to the truck visibility 35-50 mph driving) . The oem does have better high beams cutoff. I was adding the nsv bar at the same time and that completely obliterates the high beam.

There are sales right now and also look for scratch and dent housings - significant savings.

Pokesholes, I had fantastic luck and experience with installing LED replacement bulbs in my 2016 Tacoma.
Ive learned that 'the lamp you buy makes it or breaks it'
I just replaced a set of H11 bulbs in a 2016 Highlander with these bulbs and they worked fantastic just like my Tacoma.

For less then $30.00 you can brighten your nite vision and you can "dial them in" as they are adjustable to emulate the flat top of the beam that your projecting. I can tell you that i did not have to adjust or change either the Tacoma or the Highlander position, just plug and play.
