Well after a long and researched time finding the best and what I could afford in a suspension and the great help here I decided on a Bilstein 6112/5160 setup with the 6112 at top 2.5" setting. I also figured that why not go for a SPC UCA from the start! For all this I was able to get the best deal around which included the front assembled!

I was happy today to see my UPS bro, but my excitement ended when I called the local speed shop that did my 2016 Tacoma lift! They told me that they can not install the set up because I didnt buy from them, WOW WTF! I would have paid their labor but guess they dont want to be liable!

So now I'm stuck with figuring out wether to get the installation by a professional. I am ok at installing things and believe the rear shackle and 5160 install is doable for me but the 6112 and UCA seems it may be a bitch but if doable I would try!

Does this sound to far fetched for me to do, I did get a nice 3 ton hydraulic jack and heavy duty jack stands and do have a breakaway wrench bar and tools plus being retired and have all day and some to try it plus the wife car! I did install the TRD Pro dual exhaust without jacks or stands, lol!

Opinions please, yea or nay on a DYI! Any advice, thanks all!

    Michael in San Antonio!

Awesome glad you finally are going to upgrade your shocks!!!! As for install it will take a while to get it all completed. Plan two days just in case. The UCAs can be a pita as well as pressing out the existing rear leaf spring bushings.

Thanks csuviper you have been a big help, so you think its doable and the 6112's each came with 2 large washers are they needed and do you think I will need any shims!

I was wondering if all the tightening can be done my feel or are there torque settings for ever nut and bolt, 6112, 5160, shackles, front diff drop kit and rear bearing drop and shackle new bushing installs1

There's a dude on Tacomaworld who does installs. He's in Lago Vista, which may be a bit of a hike, but he could probably get it done in a day and his pricing is pretty awesome. I'm gonna have him install some stuff for me once I figure out what I want.

We are the same way with customer supplied parts. It has never failed, we get the truck apart and it is the wrong parts or parts are missing, etc then we have a truck taking up a bay which for us is vital. Plus, why not support your local business who will be doing the install? 95% of the time the shops will match that price if they are a little higher.

You are half way ahead of the game Geno. Looks like your 6112s are fully assembled. You should have a total of 4 big washers. They go above the front bump stop. Have a bud help you out and make sure you have plenty of odd sized metric sockets (1/2" drive) and box end wrenches and definitely a good torque wrench.

I just had my UCA off not long ago, and just need to pull the inner fender rubber portion and have a friend help from above with the long-ass bolt. Watch some vids too !!!

I will always vote to do it yourself. I did my first cam change when I was in high school with zero prior experience. I bought a book, got really greasy and bonded with my car.
There is something about doing something to your own vehicle that makes you love it more.

A little of this and a little of that.
Like CM Lenny said get a torque wrench, those bolts need to be tightened according to specs.

You could also call around to different shops and see if they would be willing to install for you. 4WP doesn't sell ToyTec but they were willing to install for me when I called them. Couldn't hurt to ask...

If you can do the rear shackle and shocks, you can do the front shocks and UCA.

When I would work out of my buddies diesel shop, he would take customer parts. However, like @sdhq_offroad put it, half of the time the parts were not complete. In that case, a flat fee was charged daily and added to bill. Customer was also responsible to supply missing parts.
On the flip side, my friend also knows his stuff and knows if something is missing, but he only worked on Dodge/Ram diesel trucks.

your absolutely right, it is a feeling like no other when you do it yourself! I guess if I can build a house addition, build a back covered patio and remodel my home all by self and I mean all by myself!

I guess I can do this!

I may or should I say, I will have many of these moments :frusty::frusty::frusty: but in the end I am like that little blue train, I think I can, I think I can, I know I can, :ohsnap::benchpress::cheers::amen:

Makes sense, I'm just new to this and hadn't thought that would be the case! The shop I talk of is indeed a great shop but I thought I'de save and I did buy about $300.00! Either way its all good!

I installed my front spacer (when I bought it and same process as installing your coilovers and shims) with no prior experience - save for the occasional oil change - with my cousin. Took us half a day.

Definitely get a buddy, some big sockets, a good torque wrench, and a couple sixers!!

I KNOW there are some people on this forum from San Antonio or nearby!

Dumb question but what size ( big sockets ) would be best to get, minimal amount!

I would go ahead and get a full set of sockets and wrenches. Trying to remember but think it will be good to have 18,19,21,22,24. Harbor freight or anything inexpensive on-line. Tools are one of the things you should never be afraid to buy and keep.

It's up here in Austin by Lake Travis. Could be 2-2.5 hours from you I guess, depending on where you live.

Up to you brother! 2.5 or 3/1!
I would at least get one shim to correct drivers side lean if you have it!

Most every size should be in a full set (I forget exactly what the sizes are) but a Ratchet wrench works best for the top bolts on the coilovers. The rest should be good with a socket.

I did have to buy a long socket size 22 for my U bolts when I put on my block but doubtful you'll need to do that.

When you loosen your LCA arms (if you decide to) loosen it from the bolt end, not the nut (I stripped the shit out of mine doing that) (shit it may have been the other way around...I'll have to look under my truck to see) and you MAY have to loosen the sway bar (right under the front bumper not the links) to get a bolt in at the end (I know I did)
