Hello fellow tundra guys and gals,

I am from so cal but will traveling to west Texas in the next couple days.

I am looking to stay in El Paso for a night. Any areas to stay, avoid. Looong to stay I’m near the 10 fwy as my trip continues a little further east into Texas

Coming into El Paso on I-10 from the west, your best bet would be the Holiday Inn at Sunland Park exit (nice breakfast buffet in the past), or La Quinta or Red Roof Inn at Mesa exit. The west side of El Paso is modern development, less congested, with good restaurants at both exits.

Another full travel day for you to Houston, very long full travel day if you're going further east.

Aw, well, you'll want to top off all your gasoline tanks and jerry cans at Fort Stockton then. Gasoline price for a gas hog Tundra will astronomical in Ozona. We never slow down for Ozona. Cheaper gas and Dairy Queen in Sonora. :D

I'd mirror what was said above, or I'm in Las Cruces, NM which is only 40 miles from El Paso. I'd say it's a much smaller and quieter town to stop in, plus it's probably cheaper. If you have any questions just reach out.
