Our tundra is a 2020 platinum crew max. My wife got in to start the truck after she got off work and it wouldn’t start.the p seat moved in position and the steering column moved towards her but it wouldn’t start.the anti theft was on and the steering column was locked in place.also brake pedal went to the floor. She tried 3 times finally it started. So when she got home I started it on and off several times no problem. I ran into town and back home with it. When I pulled in garage and shut off the engine the seat and steering wheel stayed in the same position. The steering column didn’t move forward as it always does when you shut off the engine. I started it back up and shut it off again and the steering column moved forward like it’s supposed to(to give you extra room to get out of the vehicle). Just wondering if anyone else has had issues like this.

I would test the battery. Not sure about your location, but some others have experienced weirdness like this and ended up with rat or rodent issues in the engine bay. Good luck

Thx for advice. I will have to get battery checked. Also I live in Ohio and truck has been in garage for about a month.we started driving it about 2 weeks ago. Hopefully no rodent problems! My cat did get a mouse in garage around Christmas

My dad just leased a brand new 2021 4Runner and he had similar issues. Went to get in and dead. Nothing worked. Toyota Care came out and towed it to a dealer and it ended up being a bad battery. I guess it's been commonly lately. Test the battery and if it's bad take it to the dealer. If it's good, still take it to the dealer.

Bad batteries can do funky things. A bad battery let my wifes Honda Accord start and run and seemed fine, except the stereo touch screen and everything in that area was blacked out and nothing worked. Changed the battery and it was fine.

Toyota batteries are known for premature failure. Some get 5+ years out of them and some get 6 months. You may have gotten a bad one right from the get go.

Rule number 1 with Tundra--factory batteries are placeholders.

Rule number 2--Tundra acts weird with a bad battery.

My new 2019 TRD Pro had the Toyota Branded True start replacement in it. It didn't even last 10 months sitting on dealer lot.

Either Toyota needs to improve their battery specs and vendors or hand out a $150 voucher for a replacement of your choice.

Thx for info. When I test drove the vehicle it wouldn’t start. They had to jump. Apparently the salesmen said some of their people that work there were lazy and probably didn’t do the routine task of starting up the vehicles to be sure the battery doesn’t die. They tried charging up but told me they put a new battery in when I bought it. That’s been 9 months ago. So I will definitely get battery tested. Thx

Dont even bother getting it tested. Just go grab an Interstate MTP-24f or an AGM, avoid Optima though, and move on from it. Seriously. Even if they replace the battery, you'll be playing this game again a year from now.

For reference—Northstar or Odessey make top tier agm batteries. In rough numbers they are double what the parts store batteries cost but last 3-4 times as long.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. Why bother replacing generic with generic
