Wife’s 2019 Camry xse v6 has been perfect so far...even better with the TRD exhaust and TRD wheels.

two days ago she tells me a warning indicator is on for the RCT and Blind spot monitor. Not a big deal, I tried to see if it was a simple setting she messed with but it was not, unhooked the battery for a half hour and still not working. Took it to the dealer yesterday morning. They ran all computer stuff and according to the computer it should be working but it’s not? All the sensors, cameras, etc.. were checked all perfect, local Toyota tech had no answers and asked to keep it overnight.

service dude called me today stating they are having a Toyota field engineer come in next week and will need the car next week, luckily it’s under warranty and they are providing a loaner but they are stumped.

the service dude did say all safety systems are tied together and worse case scenario they must replace everything!

I have the same stuff on my tundra and never had any issues?

    anyone heard of this?

apparently it gets to be the car that starts a new TSB for xse v6 Camry’s?

Never heard of that but good that they are taking care of it. Being a safety feature and under warranty, they have to figure it out. Or you get a new car.

My money is on some sensor or relay that in their minds is unrelated to the function of RCT & BSM. Kinda like on BMW's when your steering angle sensor goes and pretty much everything from traction control to hill brake assist and ABS ends up failing. Although since it's just RCT & BSM, which both use the rear radar sensors, it could be an issue there that they somehow didn't find in testing. I'm sure they didn't try replacing the sensors with new ones as part of their testing.

Nice ride, Love me some camry! I've had a couple and currently have a 16 xse 4cyl. Love the new v6s but I like the near 40mpg my 4 banger can get.

Good luck with fixing it. Glad to hear toyota is working on solution. Probably just an electrical gremlin.

Never had this issue pop up at work. But probably just a single sensor acting up... it can cause all the lights to come on

or someone bumped the rear bumper and knocked the BSM sensor out of whack. But typically that would cause a misalignment code

Lights on dash say it’s not working but when they hook it up computer shows no codes is what they are telling me.

gotta be something like abomb60 suggests....

Having the same problem with my 2018 Tundra. All sensors are flashing and beeping errors on the dashboard. Pre-collision, blind spot, parking, headlight, etc. The dealer can’t figure it out after 2 weeks!
What finally fixed your car? Thanks.

I can't remember whether it was this site or a different one talking about the housing for these monitors is plastic and the seals on them to keep moisture out will produce gaps then start to short circuit the sensors causing what you have going on.

Yes... some tiny wire or sensor is cracked or broken somewhere on the 2018 Tundra... or some dirt is on a sensor... and now the whole $45,000 truck is undriveable. Only good for the junkyard! Dealer can’t even figure it out after 2 weeks! Toyota dealer is refusing responsibility. So frustrating! Has anyone else had this failure? I wonder how this guys car got fixed.

They have a field engineer coming in next week to allegedly figure it out...so I’ll post the outcome when/if they can figure it out. Car is sitting in the driveway now, almost like it’s being punished for screwing up!

The dealership is claiming that one of the 10,000 wires/sensors on the truck has a short. They have no idea which one and can’t find it. So frustrating! I even bought the 125,000 mile factory warranty. But, they won’t honor the warranty, because I have a dent/bend in the bumper (so, I apparently caused the failure). Who knew the tundra was so fragile?

Luckily my tundra has been flawless and the Camry was perfect till the other day. I have (so far) complete faith they will get it fixed. They admit something is wrong and are providing a loaner.

funny thing is I took it to another dealer in town instead of where it bought it...dealer is doing everything they can and the wife has a work car she can drive.

car is still drivable but shows the warning on the dash...so we are just not driving it till they get it back in and fixed.

Your dealer sounds better than mine. Mine won’t provide a loaner. I’m just out of luck. Oh well... very disappointed in toyota over this. Truck was perfect, until this happened.

I have the 2018 camry 4 cylinders with 44,000 miles. so far so good. love the car. Just oil changes in the past 44K.
how many miles on yours ?

The toyota safety system saved my bacon few times in L.A. traffic. Avoided 3 or 4 collisions thanks to it already. Crazy when your brain tells you to brake but the computer already took over and slammed it faster than me. :eek2:
However on my truck (2012) not sure I would want the TSS

54,000 miles on my 2018 Tundra. Loved it until this sensor problem. Now, it beeps and the dashboard flashes error messages non-stop! It’s a $45k paperweight right now. Unusable for almost 3 weeks. Can’t be fixed. They are getting a factory tech to diagnose it next week, I hope. Going to contact toyota corporate and take it to another dealer if it isn’t fixed soon.

Go to a sign shop and get them to make you some huge vinyl stickers that look like lemons. Put the dealers name on the lemons and start driving it around. Especially on the weekend right in front of the dealership. I can promise you they will be jumping thru hoops to get you taken care of.

I saw an old guy doing this years ago to a Corolla. It lasted all of two weeks before he ended up with a brand new one.

    **UPDATE**

wife dropped off the Camry this morning, they gave her a brand new prius as a loaner. Field engineer is here and told her they will solve the problem and hopefully get the Camry back before Friday.

not ideal but bottom line dealer/Toyota is taking care of it.

I’ll update when they tell me what’s wrong/fix it.

really hoping it’s something simple the engineer can get diagnosed pretty quickly but at least they are doing us right!

Would rather have rear wheel drive but they don’t make that, only in the Lexus IS 350.
