On another thread, someone said the frame mounting holes on both the double cabs and the crewmax frames are the same. I’m scheduled to go in tomorrow for a test fit in the hopes their crewmax sliders will fit my ‘15 double cab. If they do, I’ll let y’all know.

Well, I have good news and bad news. The frame mounting holes are the same between double cabs and crewmax cabs! And the sliders are beefy as heck! The welds look great, too. I even met Chris, the engineer who designed the sliders. They are full length sliders, and designed them to be real rock sliders able to protect the rocker panels and fully support the weight of the truck.

By the way, Chris was awesome, and even offered to paint and install a set this day if they fit. I was not expecting that at all. I just wanted to go in to see if they fit and then order a set. Great customer service.

But the bad news is that they don’t quite fit, unfortunately. The body/cab mount support tabs are not the same as the crewmax and are in the way of these particular sliders. That is, the rearward cab mount supports, just in front of the leaf springs, are in the way. Unlike some sliders that may not be full length, these are, and the rearward support brace is situated further back to keep them from bending if the weight of the truck is dropped on that back area of the sliders.

Despite this, it appears they can still fit but with some work. One option Chris suggested is to chop the body mount support tab that’s in the way and have a separate brace welded in for support. For those of us who are local, he suggested Tribe16, a local fab shop that’s into custom race builds, to do that. I’m wondering if just grinding or cutting some material from the vertical slider support brace might work. Chris did not mention that as an option, though, and it may be that cutting that support brace could risk weakening the slider’s mount in that area.

Anyway, here are some pics of the sliders themselves and the body mount support brace that’s in the way.

Thanks Equin. That's a darn shame. I really liked the look of these sliders. I probably won't go with Cali Raised then and try and find a brand that's builds a set for the DC. Really appreciate you posting the report!!!

I can certainly understand that. I’m a little disappointed they’re not a direct bolt on for a double cab, but that’s not necessarily a deal breaker for me.

For one, I’ve also considered having a local fabricator custom build a set. But that would require my having to leave the truck for at least a day for measurements and then having to wait for them to fabricate the set and hope they fit sight and don’t fall apart later on.

For another, I’ve already established a rapport with CaliRaised, having met their friendly staff in person a year ago when they had their shop opening event after they moved to Texas. I’ve since talked to them on the phone and exchanged emails with them. There’s something to be said about familiarity in the business world I guess, plus I appreciate their opening up to the local community like that.

Thirdly, you can tell they’re fellow Toyota enthusiasts. Mind you, I saw a cool new Ford Ranger on their lot today, but Chris had his nicely built Tundra in the bay and there were also some very cool Tacomas and 4Runners at their shop. So many shops focus more on Jeeps and Ford trucks in Texas, so it’s nice to have a shop that also appreciates what Toyota has to offer in the off-road world.

But the most important reason are their sliders themselves. I was a dummy for not taking more pictures of them. These things are really well built! I saw the welds up close and they’re very well done. The design is also very well thought out for protection and hi-lift support if needed. That’s the main reason I still may consider getting them and doing the modifications to get them to fit. But still haven’t decided yet, though.

At this moment we do not have any plans to make rock sliders for the double cabs.
