I just wanted to share some info on a creaking noise I have had from months on my 2020 Tundra Pro. This is not to be confused with the TSB and ongoing popping noise from the TRD Skid Plate. I had that issue and dealer fixed it under the TSB. I was still having the noise after leaving dealership, so I removed the skid plate entirely to see if I still had the noise. Well I still had the noise with the skid plate off, so I continued to hunt for the noise. Good news, I finally located it. The noise is coming from the black plastic retainer clips that hold the brake lines that run across the engine bay firewall. There are 4 sets of clips each holding 4 lines. I WD40 each of those clips, what do you know, noise is finally gone. I shook them slightly before adding WD40 and they were noisy as heck. Hope this helps others who have searched beyond the ongoing skid plate issue. I also attached photos for what I sprayed down.

Nice! My truck squeaked a little when it was 3F degrees outside but the noise has since gone away.

I had one thought when I read it. Does WD40 cause the plastic to dry/crack over time? Since it is petroleum based. So after a google search...... You may want to clean it and try Silicone spray.

https://www.quora.com/What-effect-d...c materials?,like solvent on acrylic plastics.

I guess it could, I will give that a try next. It has to be a cheap clip from Toyota is I have to replace. Good advice though, thanks.

I have been looking for a tapping sound and stumbled across the hose clips and yes they are noisy when moved. No harm in lubricating them i guess.

Well this is very interesting information. I have a 2020 TRD Sport that is currently at the dealership for a popping noise/rattle noise and it is coming from the engine compartment. The dealer test drove the truck today and said they didn't hear any noise. I took the truck with the technician and low and behold the noise was heard by the technician. I wonder if this is what it may be. Makes sense from the location I am hearing it from, interesting.

Also consider a large wire harness on the passenger side firewall. If not tightly secured it will cause a tapping or knocking sound. See post #26

I looked at the post that was suggested, but i can not visually imagine where this harness is located. I don't have my truck right now, can you describe where the harness is located

    Thanks

If your referring to the windshield washer fluid line, it runs along the passenger side of the engine bay high up on the fender. There is a lot of slack in the line so just tape it up in the middle and that should help out.

I posted the same issue back in July. I sprayed the rubber holders with silicone spray instead. Haven’t heard that squeak since. IN DASH SQUEAK SOLUTION.

I would have to agree on the one post. I would think it would be hard to here any squeaks with the loud TRD exhaust.
