That’s one heck of a rescue. Way to go!
Even if there was no monetary reward for this, those that came out and helped will forever remember what it took to work together and be successful in a difficult situation! And educated a lot of folks about the importance of not driving on a playa unless it’s an appropriate time to do so. Legal, dry, and prepared! It’s not an, “ I’ve got mud tires so I can send it” type of scenario.

Too bad it seems like this guy was warned and still went for it. It’s people like this that ruin the great outdoors for everyone. I’m a camper, off road driver, and mountain biker. Mostly they all have 99% nice cool people I don’t mind being lumped together with, but There’s D’s in every group. I run into them or see the results of their actions and makes me feel lumped with them taking part in the hobbies I do. (Riding/driving to fast, trashing trails/camps and glass alcohol bottles shattered near fire rings, graffiti on natural or man made objects). Makes all of us look bad and this leads to losing access and negative connotations about certain hobbies. Makes me sick to be lumped in to this fellas group as a semi built off road Toyota. Makes me want to avoid any kinda bumper that looks like his! Looking at the Facebook post he made and the warnings he clearly ignored saddens me. What was he thinking SMH! Why would you do that after being so clearly warned. Not to mention driving for a long time getting progressively worse, with no end in sight, and don’t attempt to turn around right at first! Hope the authorities make him pay a dear fine so at least his checking account takes a big hit even if he doesn’t learn anything else from this.

A group got together from the 775 recovery page spent 2 days on the Playa with rakes, shelves and a small tractor filling all the ruts and holes that we left. Honestly you can't even see any trace of it now.

Honestly it was just a mistake. The markers on that side if the Playa aren't very good and on the maps it shows as a road.
