Looking to go to Yosemite NP on the weekend of 12-14 March. Looking to see if anyone may be thinking of heading up that way and maybe we can join forces and discover together?

will be leaving from the Reno area on friday 12th on the afternoon, maybe 3-4pm or maybe leave first thing on Saturday if I get delayed on friday. Looking to head back sunday or maybe even monday.

Will be me, the wife and our fur baby. We are setting up the truck to be able to sleep in the bed but

In the planning phase right now so nothing is really set in stone... if anyone is interested I can adjust our plans. It will be great if you are someone who has gone to Yosemite in the past but if not we can discover together.

If you have any advice or input i would love to read it all.

    thank you.

My truck is still down. :( But sounds exactly like something you’d want to do.

I was just up there on the 18th. If I were free next weekend I'd consider meeting up.

The idea of freezing my oysters clean off isn't very appealing.

is it that cold there? weather reports are not that bad but I know what is reported and what it actually feels like are two different things.

It is cold enough to snow regularly up there. I didn't stay overnight so I can't speak to that. It was cold enough during the day for me to wear a lined flannel jacket. I'm assuming that you'll snooze in your truck?

I love Yosemite, but kids sports have me inundated right now. I personally think the best way to explore is to park the truck and ride bikes throughout the Valley. Skip the traffic, crowds, lock em up and hike around.

Where can you park that won't get you unwanted attention from the park staff or rangers? I know people do it-I've never done it there myself. Going to the mountains sounds like a great idea.

i dont know... i know the park site says it is not ok to sleep in your car and apparently you cant park anywhere in the park other than designated sites. Reason why i would like to meet up with someone who has been there and can help our visit be awesome. If not, we will wing it and make the best of it.

Day trips for me, too. I'm very curious about it though. I look forward to reading a trip report and maybe joining in on Yosemite trip 2.

Thank you. we are going from Reno, NV so a day trip is too far of a drive to make it. probably just make it an overnight and see how it goes. I will definitely report back and share what we learn.

You can try camp 4 which is a first come first serve. 20$-ish a night. Many climbers go there. Otherwise I’m not too familiar with the east entrance but outside of the park towards Oakhurst you can find some
Fire roads here and there you might be able to sneak into.

I was stationed at MWTC just north of Bridgeport for 3 years. That whole region is chalk full of fire roads. It wouldn t be hard to find a place out of the way. Of course it helps to know where to go ahead of time.

cant have dogs in camp 4 and we are taking our fur baby. also you can sleep in the car in camp 4 and the main reason of building the sleeping platform in the back is because the wife does not want to sleep on the floor again.

Let me know when... i'm down !!

I am down for another Bald Mountain trip. I saw quite a few 4x crews heading there a couple weeks ago. Ran into someone at the store, they said it is mostly dirt trails in the snow because so many people have been up there with the snow. Need a couple weeks notice, have a lot going on the next couple months.
