Well...I didn’t think I’d do it, but I got to the point of hating the chrome on the front of my 2021. I got lucky and scored a few OEM pieces locally and ordered the rest online to make the transformation.

I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about painting the grill surround black instead of Cement, but figured I’d give it a shot. I feel like it came out better than I had expected, and helps it not be the typical chrome delete scheme.

    Parts installed:

OEM painted bumper with painted center portion
    OEM painted grill surround
    OEM painted hood bulge
OEM TRD full LED headlights with iHacker harness
    Morimoto XB LED fog lights

Just ordered the Rough Country tow shackle kit to finish off the front end. After that I’m going to paint my rear bumper caps using a setup from Automotive Touch up and then the exterior of the truck will be complete.

Looks great! The best dechroming I ever did was getting AJT VENT, shifter and cupholder chrome delete covers. It makes a world of difference in the cab and save the eyes from reflections

Looks great! I’m about to order bumper covers to black them out on a metallic black SR5 TRD. My last truck was blacked out as well. Yes it’s a pita to keep clean but, when it is it’s sexy af!

Yeah I pray for several days of no rain or dew or any moisture in the air after a wax job! This midnight metallic Toyota black had some blue and silver flakes in it. I noticed in the sun it had a purple hue to it. Not a fan of nurple aka: purple but it does grow on you. When Toyota says metallic paint, they mean it. Deep color. Best color imo.

Where did you get the black lower grill surround?

Are the climate knobs a pain to do? Got everything else but the climate knobs. Very leery tackling those.

Scored it locally off a guy that only wanted the TOYOTA insert. I didn’t want that part so it worked out perfectly.

They’re tricky, but not bad if you take your time. The knobs can come off two different ways. If you disconnect the white cog behind the dial, I’ve read you have to get it recalibrated by the dealership. I took my time and popped off the knobs individually leaving the cogs together and everything works exactly as it should.
