I have a 2020 Tundra TRD Pro. There is some sort of insulation (heat / noise???) lining the underside of the hood. It's completely falling apart. There might have been some sort of black felt liner there at some point, but now it's just down to white / yellow foam (chunks missing) with a couple of scraps of black cloth hanging slightly. My engine has little pea sized chunks of foam all over.

    1) Is this normal?
    2) If not; I was maybe thinking a mouse or something, but I don't see any signs of droppings. My truck is parked outside and I'm definitely not "in the city", so not discounting wildlife, but just seems weird. I don't see any signs of cables or anything else being chewed on.

    Welcome from NY.

Sorry to hear about the hood liner. That should not happen normally. If it isn't a rodent then that should be covered under warranty. Take it to the dealership if you are sure that's it not rodents.
Good luck and keep us informed.

I wouldn’t just remove it unless you don’t like the paint on your hood
Definitely need to figure out what’s causing it to fall apart

Your truck would fall under the 3/36 mark if its a one off by design.

    Some like...stuff and things.
I feel like this is one of the biggest myths out there.

In the 15 years I owned my Mustang, I never had the hood liner in. Full bolt ons, 2 different supercharges, longtube headers, etc. and never had any paint issues on the 3 hoods I ran.

Didn’t have a liner on my 03 Harley F150 with a supercharged 5.4 in it, either. That thing even had the Eaton supercharger that is known to basically cook everything around it because it gets so hot. Zero paint issues.

Both of my Camaro's didn't come with that hood liner also. No paint issues either.

The heat of summer and sun would be my concern for paint damage. I never heard of the engine blanket being for heat control to prevent paint damage. I have heard the blanket is for fire suppression though. I ran my Tacoma for 10 years without it and a 15 year old truck still had near perfect paint.
