Do you guys know of any places that have Cement colored wrap? I can't stand my chrome grill and surround... or the mirrors.

Just buy cement grille surround and bulge. OEM paint job is better than vinyl

I debated the same but ended up painting my mirrors and corner caps myself for about 30$.

I got it from automotive touchup. The paint mix has been a perfect match every time.

Paint by color code matches perfectly. Well done

How many cans did you go through? And did you use a primer or clearcoat?

Person you quoted has not been active since 2021. I've painted a few parts so I'll chime in. If you are painting a part that was bare or the wrong color, you will want to use a primer or adhesion promoter. If you are doing 2 mirrors and 2 corners, I'd get 2 cans of paint match. If doing all 4 corners and the mirrors, get 3. Its better to have extra then to come up short. You definitely want a clear coat. Spend more initially and get a 2k automotive clear, it will hold up and not damage as easily.

If your parts are chrome, its hard to make that work easily. The best option is to use plasti-dip first since that bonds to to chrome. Let that fully cure and then you could paint it.

I’ll be doing just the bulge, grill surround, front & rear bumper edges. They’re all chrome unfortunately. I was also considering a wrap. Really don’t want to take the grill surround off the grill again

The bulge and surround take a lot of debris impact when driving.... I tried a simple way to get paint to adhere but it really didn't help enough. I painted mine 2 years ago and I'm looking to paint other pieces so I can replace what is on my truck. I'd recommend trying to find any color bulge/surround to paint (easier to paint the colored plastic then the chrome). I used plasti-dip and bedliner on my end caps and they are holding up well. Wanting to try that for my bulge/surround, sand it smooth, and then color match it. I just haven't had the time.
Also, I'd suggest 3 cans of colored paint for just the bulge and surround, maybe 4 if its in budget. They are larger then you think with lots of angles and areas you want to spray into.

I'm no pro, but I'd like to think I get decent results for the cost. In the last 6 months, my surround has picked up many more rock chips so I don't really recommend the Duplicolor Metalcast as a way to adhere to the chrome. But I got 2 years so my efforts weren't wasted and I knew I was taking a chance. Linked my build too so you can see I have painted a few things for the truck. Feel free to pm if you have additional questions or you post on either thread.

Leveled, wheels and tires, Line X on the grille surround and bulge, Line X in the bed, Retrax rolling Tonneau cover, Flowmaster Outlaw cat back exhaust.
Just my .02 cents...I did my grill and bulge in Line X bedliner. Thought it was going to be too heavy at first, but it's been two years or so and it's held beautifully and it's bulletproof. Plus it blacked out the chrome...

I did my bulge and grille surround in “color match” line x. Definitely wasn’t color matched but I didn’t think they’d be able to match that color anyway. I definitely like how it came out though! And how you said , it’s bulletproof

Did you guys DIY the Line X? Does Line X sell color match out of a can or did you have your local Line X shop do it?

I had one of my local shops do it. From what I understand it depends on the dealer as to availability. Not sure about the cans , I would think color match isn’t available in a can

Thanks, I have a spare chrome grille that I bought used and want to match. I have a roll of vinyl wrap I bought thinking I can go that route but never thought of Line-X

And depending on your end result. You can sand the Line-x smooth, and then paint it. @BlueRibbon4x4 used Raptor Liner, sanded it, and painted it black. From his pictures, I doubt you can tell his hood bulge is bed lined.

My brother told me about raptor liner. Might end up doing that for my '02 Taco later on down the road. Gonna do the whole truck, probably the basalt gray.

I have OEM Cement color matched parts from Sparks. Bumper caps and grill surround. Both chipped now and didn’t match 100%

OEM bumper cap install also is not as easy as I thought it would be

There’s a company that makes overlay shells for the bumper caps. I would have done this if it was out when I did this. - i’m not sure on the quality however.
