For the new truck owners out there..... Will this have any effect on your warranty..?

As in, you take your 2020 truck in for service, recall or whatever,,,,, and they find out about wires being cut and spliced.... just wondering if they could hold it against you.

My 2010 Tundra's warranty has long expired.
Some shops might notice the TPMS light out with key on/engine off and may make a note of it on the work order.
I seriously doubt any Mechanic would spend any time diagnosing the problem...for free.
And I'm not going to tell any shop about the modification.

    Potatoes.
They can only hold it against you if they can prove that your modification specifically caused the issues that you're bringing it in for. It's federal law, The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.

I don’t think this method works for at least 2019 and newer - they changed the TPMS circuit to send the warning light via a CAN bus signal.

Many thanks to all the info regarding disabling the TPMS sensor. I just bought a 2010 SR5, and yup, you guess it, the pesky light stays on. Tire dealer discovered bad sensors and quoted a price that is way outside my budget. I followed the guidelines on cutting the light blue wire and splicing to the yellow. Works great! Looking forward to learning more about the Tundra. Thanks again.

Hey Brian, it completely turned the light off on my '10 SR-5. Like I mentioned in my post, I just followed the advice, along with the pictures, on previous posts.

It sucks that it has to be plugged straight into the box’s pin... I had no luck trying to splice the wire... might just pull the box apart and solder to the board so it looks cleaner...

This. Also double check your wiring - it changes over the different model years. If you went by wiring color that might be it.

I'm going to try the wire splice on my '07. I bought a set of wheels with snow tires from a Sequoia that have TPMS sensors. I had no warning light after I put them on after test driving it a few miles. The next morning the light started flashing. I tried resetting the button under the column exactly as written in the OM and it kept flashing. I'm not shelling out any money to have this BS system figured out. If the wire splice doesn't work, I pulling the damn bulb.

I just did this exact thing. No more annoying TPMS warning light.

Thanks to the many people who have taken the time in this post and many others to give solutions for disabling the TPMS light. Man, what a variety of ideas that included buying a special modulle that sends a signal to override, putting the sensors in a pressurized PVC container, pulling the dash and removing the light, taping over the light, connecting a bunch of diodes togther and installing inline with one of the wires, cutting a wire and splicing it to another, and using a Scotclok to splice the wires. I don't have time to offer my thanks on every place I gleaned the info, but want to express my thanks some place, so this is it.

I have a 2007 Double. I bought it used and the TPMS light cam on very sooon after I got it (under 100 miles). I suspect the seller had reset it to hide it from buyers, but who really knows. I had it diagnosed quite some time ago and it was determned that modules and sensors were bad. I inteneded to deal with it sooner, but just got aroud to it. I decided to use the Scotchlok type splicing connecteor on the yellow and light blue wires as illustrated very well in a post that I can't find now. I used an 18-22 gage splice. I initially tried to do it without taking the glove box out, but I just didn't have enough room to work and the wiring harness to the sensor doesn't have a lot of slack. I was able to get the connector of the senspr module, but my bulk, eyesight, and fat fingers made it too cumbersome to handle. So, I pulled the glove box out. Not a huge ordeal, but in addition to three screws I also need to remove a bolt that was behind a trim piece. I think one could do it by just pulling the trim pice back, but I opted to remove it. If you drop the bolt it will be mandatory to remove the trim to retrieve the bolt. It was more time conssuming, but very easy to handle the wiring once I had the glove box out. It all went back together easily. So far so good. No light and no new problems. I ran my OBD and it did not report any problems. I'll update if I encounter any problems.

I usually don't rig stuff like this, but I figured the TPMS has not been functioning for at least three years and it was not worth spending the money. My neighbor stopped by while I was doing it and gave me an unneeded lecture on the worst case scenaripo that was going to happen now that I disabled it. I hope I buried his body sufficiently.

Here is an image that shows the wires that I spliced together with the Scotchlok. The small red line shows the wires.

Thanks again for this and other advice I have received from this forum.

I don't think the TPMS system these trucks have is really any good. It doesn't tell you which tire is low and it takes some really low readings to trigger. You can visibly tell which tire is low on pressure before the TPMS triggers a warning. It's seems like a BS system that you have to reprogram the sensors every time you change them. My Acura is basically plug and play for the sensors. I've use two different sets of tires, one set for snow and the other for normal weather. I've bought new sensors for each set and I never had to reprogram anything.
I'm glad someone found the wire splice fix on the Tundra. I did it and I'm leaving it like that for good.

Has anyone done this vasectomy on a 2018 CM? I swapped out the 255 steel rims to different stock wheels and a 285 tire. As many have said before, i can tell when the tire is low and i don’t need a light to inform me. Unfortunately the TPMS light comes on but the pressure is spot on for all tires. Toyota wants $335 for one sensor or $535 for 3. The 4th they replaced at no cost. There are better things to spend money on than these useless sensors.... any help would be appreciated.

I believe 2018+ they switched this circuit to a CAN Bus signal so I don’t think it works on newer vehicles. Check your wiring diagram for your model year to confirm.

G'day gents... Here is what I did... I have two sets of tyres and rims summer and winter.. the summer ones have TPS in them and it would be nice to keep that option but the winters don't and I don't want to have them scaned twice a year so I put a "on off on" switch in.. the centre lug goes to the light green wire outbound from the plug ... one lug to the light green wire closest to the plug and patch solder to the yellow... have to be very careful when striping the wire.. the wires on my 2014 are very light gauge.. much smaller than the ones I see on the pictures here.. seems to work great..IMG_7729.jpgIMG_7729.jpgIMG_7727.jpg

It basically just connects/jumpers the two lines together? I had to look up
Scotchlok. Now I just have to find that plug.

Cruiser Pilot... the switch just allows me the choice of which pathway I want into the module... the "normal TPMS on path" or the "buckshee alternate power" ;-)

Sorry, I got all complicated and deleted a bunch. I was responding to @PLUTONY post #134.
I like your idea. My TPMS has been removed. So I’m looking for a permanent solution now to extinguish the light.

Just found this yesterday. First time in two years driving to work I didn’t have an Amber halo lit around a patch of electrical tape on the low pressure light. Yes, I know I have no excuse to not have had it programmed with the néw sensors but never got around to it. Was super easy, 15 limited CM. Thanks to all that contributed, this forum has been awesome!

It’s funny those people saying: “just take it to a dealer and have it fixed right”. That’s laughable! My dealer has replaced the entire system, all sensors and the module and also replaced both sensors on the drivers side again. No warranty on my 2008 Tundra. Couple hundred bucks, my ass. Over $1000.00 easy and still, the light flashes when start up and stays on while driving. The TPMS on this truck is a piece of garbage. I’m bypassing it as soon as I get home from Discount tire, who also told me they couldn’t fix it after installing new tires.

Scotchlok the yellow and blue wires eliminates the light. Ok.
Where is this box with the plug located? What has to be removed to get to it?

If you spent $1000 and the problem wasn’t fixed did you ask for a refund?

The bypass method is easy and cheap, good luck!

It's practically free. Just need some small gauge wire strippers and some electrical tape.

Has anyone figured out yet how to permanently disable TMPS in 2019-2021? Digging into truck electrical schematics is way above my paygrade
