Who else thinks the real 3rd gen Tundra will be less than craptastic?

Well. As I survey our world, also recognizing that the design has been some years in the making, I come to the conclusion that it will be sub-craptastic.

I bought my 2017 when I did for a reason.

I bought my 2008 Yamaha Zuma 50 two stroke when I did for a reason.

I'm pretty good at these things.

I think it will have all the specs people want but will be unappealing to the eye.

like what Chevy did in their heavy duty market. Made it competitive and class leading in some areas. But made it freaking hideous

Pretty sure we’ll end up referring to it as the 4th Gen on this forum.

I think the new Gen. is going to be awesome. Sportier but different, faster, better payload, better hauling, more hP and more torque, improved electronics, more storage and better mpg. Why would I think otherwise?

BTW, I think all of the "spy photos" are conjecture, photo shopped and BS.

Welp considering everyone’s been calling the 2.5 gen the 3rd gen for the last 7 years, I really don’t think what you do will make any difference.

It’ll be fine. Little Hiccups of new model likely. But Toyota’s track records pretty good compared to the likes of the big 3.

but that being said, nothing will beat the reliability of the 1st gens. They may not haul the most, be the fastest, ETC but they were built in Toyota’s Prime

Nearly all forms of transportation are turning into crap nowadays. It used to be about engineering a marvelous machine. Now it is about making the biggest pile of crap for the most money! Damn greed ruins everything!!

A friend of mine posted on Facebook a couple years ago, “Do I have any friends on here who legit believe the Earth is flat?” Turns out that yes, he did in fact have two flat-earther friends on Facebook. They went nuts explaining why they think everything from NASA to maps are a trick to cover up the truth. Both of them got their start from not being able to discern any curvature to the Earth at or near sea level. From there, the quackery increased exponentially. One guy recommended a PDF book floating around online called “200 proofs that the earth is flat”. So deeply enthralled was I in the insanity, I of course had to look it up. It did not disappoint!

HOWEVER...there is no quackery going on with us 2.5 gen’ers. We get our 3rd gen denial from Toyota engineers, who have not redesigned the Tundra beyond a facelift since 2007.

    Gen 1 Tundra — XK30 platform 2000-2006.
    Gen 2 Tundra — XK50 platform 2007-current.
    Also,
    Gen 1 Sequoia — XK40 platform 2001-2007.
    Gen 2 Sequoia — XK60 platform 2008-current.

The Sequoia is also in only its second generation. I’ll bet we get a 3rd gen Tree the year following the Tundra. That would continue the pattern anyway.

Yeah I’m not arguing what it should be called, I’m just stating what it will be called on this forum. You got Toyota, aftermarket companies, forums all calling them differently. Bottom line is, Bob and the mods look like they’ve already made the decision to call them 3rd gen and 4th gen. And knowing what kind of confusion it would cause if they were to change it now, I agree with their decision. The day I own my own Tundra Forum is the day I get to decide what to call them. Until then I’ll just go along with Bob’s decision.

And tell those two flat earthers I said they’re idiots. :D

It just makes my eye twitch because, to me, it’s clearly incorrect. And I think the confusion would be fairly shortly lived, as the forum lists the years included under the sub forum headings.

Me, when I read “4th gen Tundra”:
    0F1C36DB-5B66-4F0F-9436-07A3E6B44AEC.jpg

But Bob said the 4th gen forum is just a place to put 2022 threads and we’ll see what Toyota says when they release it.
