New CBI covert winch bumper

I have been looking at all the options for bumpers and winch mounts and decided to go with this CBI covert bumper that was released today. It has the best appearance between all I have seen so far!!

Any pictures of this thing actually on a truck? I’m curious to compare it to the SSO offering

 

That looks horrific for anyone actually planning on using their winch. There's absolutely no access to the clutch lever and no visibility of the spool...

 

My thoughts exactly! Perfect if you never use the winch.

 

You don’t have to install the light bar so you can see the spool that way and access the clutch lever.

 

Still a pain in the arse.

 

That's a tiny opening to reach fingers through, especially if you need to plug in a controller as well. Really can't understand why so many companies limit winch visibility/access

 

Probably designed to be used with the Warn winches with the wireless clutch release. Otherwise no access you are all right.

It does have a hole in the bottom. I plan to use a wireless remote winch

I plan on relocating the the control box to behind the grill as I have done on most every winch I have owned to keep it up higher away from mud and water. Also plan on using a Vise design clutch lever extension if the access through the grill is too much. I looked at the warn and SSO but none of them have much room either and this one looks better IMO.

 

I bought my first winch in 1976. I was 21. A Warn electric. Mounted on my new Bronco. Hmmmm.....46 years ago. It was waterproof then. I've never had to tear off my grille and totally relocate controls on any winch I've ever had and that's including an old PTO Ramsey and PTO Koenig. Never got flooded and back then I wheeled a lot in western Orygun. Lot's of mud there..... You might not have been born yet...................I totally dislike that CBI hidden winch. I know a pain in the ass when I see it. Just sayin.........Hope it works out for you of course.

 

I am not dis agreeing with some of your statements about the access.But hopefully I don’t have to use the winch everyday either or I would have gotten the full CBI bumper. I’m just trying to keep a sleek looking functional truck without the gaudy front winch bumper that it seems you have or want.

 

I get you. I'm just being a pain in the ass because I can. Ha! I'm all for getting what you want. I'd be a total hypocrite otherwise

 

Post more pics when you are done. I know there are more members here that want the low profile look that you are going after.

 

Any progress on this? I want to see where you mounted the control pack. I have a similar project coming up and need some inspiration on the remote mount control pack.
