2010 crewmax 5.7 4x2. Getting code P0393 which shows camshaft position sensor. I'm reading that there are multiple sensors. I installed the new sensor and cleared the code from the ecu and within 10 seconds of starting it comes back. Got the same result putting the new sensor at each location. All the wires are intact on all the connectors. I'm at a complete loss right now. Anyone else experience this?

I did just change the plugs in it as well. O2 sensor from a p0393 code? interesting.

Do I change all 4 oxygen sensors or is there a particular one that is common to go out?

I just changed my plugs and got a P0393 code also. I changed the cam sensor out but still have the code. I have a diagnostic tool and I did notice two of my 02 sensors are reading higher than the other two. Is a plug misfiring or did the anti seize compound foul up the sensors??? The original plugs had no anti seize on them. I would like to figure this out.

did anyone figure out what was causing the P0393 after new sensor and new plugs?

Had code come up and showed the down stream oxygen sensor was the problem. Changed out sensor and check engine light has gone out. I have 2015 tundra, and for anyone that needs to replace that particular sensor don't waste your money on the socket, get a box end wrench, it will save you a lot of headaches.

So P0393 could be sorted by replacing downstream O2 sensors? Not the replacement of the actual sensor itself? I am having the same issue with the above people; changed spark plugs and a day after got this P0393 code. Runs fine, maybe a slight misfire just by the sound. I've checked my wiring and theres nothing obvious.

I have the same problem. 2011 Sequoia 5.7. Replaced my spark plugs tonight, fired it up, and immediately a check engine light. P0393, CPS “B” circuit high input (bank 2)
Ran fine at first, then began to surge slightly, then eventually smoothed out again. Reset codes, light came back again immediately. Code is setting repeatedly, both pending and permanent. Checked all my coil connections, everything looks good. Doesn’t seem to be any other connectors unplugged.
This vehicle has run flawlessly for me up until now, never had the CL come on before.
Also, did not use anti-seize as it was discouraged due to metal types and possibility of over-torque Anyone have any suggestions?

mine ended up being a VVT sensor on the cam. Nothing to do with plugs or CPS. Brittle wires was the culprit!

    Update:

I pulled the pos off of the battery for a minute, during which time I turned the key on so drain any residual power. This cleared all codes, engine ran like new. Next day the CEL came back on. Now I have a P0393, C1201, & C1547. I’m going to look into the VVT sensor...

Also, it says there’s a misfire on cyl 4. I’m going to check the coil connection.

I just find it odd that I have zero. Issues or CEL ever, until I change plugs, then immediately have several codes. Seems like wiring to me, but I can’t seem to figure out what wires might be bad.

There’s a very high likelihood that it’s wiring. Other forum posts have warned about brittle wires on the top side on the heads (only found that after). If you have a multimeter definitely use that, sometimes the break is right at the connector! But the P0393 code is triggered when voltage is above rough 4.5V if I remember right and wouldn’t take much to jack that up.

Thanks for the replies! I have visually inspected the wiring and also switched out sensors, but I’ll try the multimeter tomorrow eve. My gut also tells me it’s wiring, but everything seems right and no breaks. Hopefully the multimeter will find the culprit.

Well, it’s fixed. Turns out it was a faulty connector for a camshaft position sensor on the passenger side. Thanks for your help!!

This post was extremely helpful. Thank you. I had the same symptoms and it did indeed end up being the connector. I wired pulled loose from the connector to be exact. This happened shortly after I changed my spark plugs. I can only assume that tugging on the wiring harness pulled this wire loose. Thanks again!
