Are any of these aftermarket shorty antennas worth it? I hate the long one from the factory. Any recommendations on a high quality one that works?

    $26.49 after tax for me.

I read somewhere the Honda S2000 antenna was a good one that worked for the Tundra.
They do not work. Good thing it was only $11.

I use this one. It works great for XM radio and regular FM radio. The only thing that I've noticed (about 6 months later) is that it is interfering with my GMRS antenna but it's not a big deal to me cause I usually listen to music on my phone. If I didn't have this other antenna there would be no interference.

My stock antenna doesn't seem to be too great with AM reception, although I'm pretty far from the news station i try and tune in to.

The Highlander I have seems to do much better.

We'll see how the shorty does, but I'm not counting on much in the way of AM reception.

Cut the antenna with a fine tooth coping saw. Beveled the tip with a dremel until the ball fit. Little jb weld and stuck it. Let it set up and touched it up with black paint.

X2 . . . so far so good. But I live in the city where it's flat/ no mountains etc. so reception had better be good.
I kept my old OEM 'Buggy Whip' for road trips if this one underperforms out of town.
The reception 'Buzzes' on AM when I get close to low-overhead power lines . . . but so does the OEM.

I really like the Shorty antenna overall and it does not get wanged off like the factory model did but there is no chance that it performs as well as the longer version either, just physics really.

    Pretty much yeah.

The more antenna in general the better the performance in real terms.

I like the antenna a lot but mine sure does not do as well as the standard length version which can simply gather more signal due to length.
There are tricks that can be used to load a short antenna to try to work like an actual longer one but this is not working for me though you might not notice as much too if in an urban high signal area.
As soon as I travel out of the city it becomes clear to me that I have lost some gain from the long antenna.

I mainly listen to Sat. though so it is easy to live with usually.
