What is the difference between a stock sway bar and a TRD sway bar?

The front stock sway bar is hollow and weighs 17 lbs. The TRD is solid and weighs 29 lbs.

Big difference between the two, TRD bar is more heavy duty and works better. And if you are considering the front, definitely look into adding the rear bar. It makes a large improvement in handling for about $200.

The TRD bar is also bright red vice black of the OEM.

Will the PTR62-OC180 TRD front sway bar fit a Tundra 2015?

Add the rear first. Drive it a thousand miles. Then add the front.

I have both TRD's and love the handling. Note: I don't off road on trails or rocks.

I don't off road either. I'm planning on getting a travel trailer this summer and think these will help.

I have both and they are great upgrades. Hellwig makes a rear I believe is even stiffer than the rear TRD bar.

Both TRD sway bars are part of the Sport package. I don't off-road and love the setup for the street. The lack of body roll in a vehicle this size as a result is impressive. As others have said, the rear bar will make the most noticeable improvement in handling.

I have a '20 Tundra Limited TRD off road DC. I've noticed that there's a LOT of body roll in my truck, and after reading through this thread for the first time, I looked under the rear of my almost new Tundra to discover that there's no sway bar at all!! I've not looked at the front yet.

Is it common for these trucks (the non sport packages) to not have a sway installed from the factory at all? I'll be at least ordering the rear TRD sway bar, and most likely the front later on. The truck will not normally see any use off road.

You will have a front sway bar from the factory. It is hollow and is 17 lbs. The TRD is solid and weighs 29 lbs. Only certain trims (Sport and higher) had the rear sway bar from the factory.

Thanks! So is it common for the Off-Road packages to have a hollow front sway bar on the front and none at all in the rear?

That is correct. All Tundra models from 07 and up have a front sway bar.

I put the TRD rear sway on my 20 Limited and it is a noticible difference for sure. Noodling over putting the front one on or putting money towards other mods.

For me, the upgraded front sway bar made about 25% difference compared to how adding the rear sway bar made about 75% overall difference. It is noticeable just not as dramatic of an improvement as compared to adding the rear. Note I'm running the offroad package shocks (not the PRO shocks)

Thanks, I like your %’s. I’m running stock limited shocks. Might throw the front on while the free shipping deal is still on.

I think its worth it as long as your aren't doing heavy off-roading where articulation is needed.

Just occasional Summer beach driving, nothing heavy. Looking into a travel trailer in the next couple years so it should definitely help with towing also. Appreciate ya

Has anyone installed a part no. PTR620OC180 front sway bar on a 2015 Tundra? Wondering if it'll fit before I purchase one.
