Brought Tundra in for complimentary 5,000 miles check yesterday. Rotate tires ,check fluid etc.
I’m old school and mark tire rims to validate that the work was done . Service advisor reports all work done ,go out to truck wheels were’nt touched . Go back in service advisor goes and talks to the guy that did the work and reports back that he had measured tread wear in all 4 tires and their were all equal so tire rotation no necessary . What a bunch of sh..... spoke to service manager who had the tires rotated for real this time . He apologizes saying that the tech’s would rather rather rotate tires on Corolla and not a Tundra . I ask him how many customers have paid for this service and been screwed . No answer .

Sounds like your typical dealership. Low paid totem pole folks doing oil changes and tire rotations.

Take it as 100% chance your tires wont fall off any time soon. Lol

I'm thinking OP better not need to change a flat for the spare either. Lugs are probably torqued to "twist-off" ft-lbs. :D

Poor management. Not holding employees responsible when they clearly are aware of issues and just turning their eye. Maybe find a new dealer?

Yep, typical dealer BS. Sounds pretty identical to my story six years ago. They checked all the boxes like they greased the prop shaft etc. They didn’t rotate the tires the paint wasn’t even scratched off the grease fittings etc. You got a watch them. Best thing you can do is start a rapport with one of the service advisors and let them know you’re paying attention.

After the first time I never went back. Only for a recall and warranty stuff. And I still check their work and re-torque lug’s

    You are getting it.

Two things I never do anymore: (1) Accept "free" service, or (2) send an unsatisfactory meal back to the kitchen.

Your free service may be tied to a Dollar Amount, mine was. It may be worth asking your dealer.

I used mine up in parts and won't be going back.

Typical BS. The last time I went they sent me a survey. I don't get surveys anymore. Hey they wanted my honest opinion, and an honest opinion is what they got. I try to do all my own stuff, and cringe when I have to take it in for anything. Although the last fix they did, was done correctly and they didn't mess anything up. Had a leak on where the oil dipstick tube goes into the oil pan. Said it was missing a gasket. So there's that...

Most likely Toyota will light your dealer up if you give them an unfavorable review.

My first free oil change they overfilled it by a lot. Ask him if it was the first tundra they serviced. He didn’t answer me. So next free service I went to another small family owned dealership and it was right on the money. They are known for having good techs and keeping them too!

Yep, they will do that, but I'm not sure it will help you in the long run. If you were already planning to change dealers anyway, maybe it will help the next guy.

I read a similar account in the front diff needle bearing thread. Dealer wasn't exactly "beaming" about the corporate attention his organization received for warranty work shortcomings. Dealer has made life very difficult for one of our regulars. One good thing from it: The dealer was upfront about being an A******, rather than being a passive-aggressive, back-stabbing assassin on future work.

In all seriousness OP, check your lugs. My tire shop torqued mine so much that the threads stripped on two lug nuts.

If they can't learn from their mistakes and would rather make the customer the problem, that is certainly one way to run a dealership.

But then, you know all you need to know about that dealership and go elsewhere.

If they can screw-up an oil change or a tire rotation, do you really want them doing any other work?

Just mark or label them somewhere with 1, 2, 3, 4 or whatever you want and keep note of tire location.

Then check where they are after they do a rotation.

Thanks. I’m gonna lose my mind if they try and pull this on me.
