I have not heard of any failure from the actual mounts. The mounting points on the frame are the most likely source of failure. This was common on Tacomas. The metal brackets that bolt to the stock tow hook locations will help with having frame issues.

Interesting info. What generation Tacomas were having this problem? I had some serious pulls on a 1st gen ‘03 with no issues, but I noticed how thin their frames were when welding fish plates on mine.

I welded a buddies back together. It's a mid 2000's. Frame horns are easy to rip off....

Not too sure about the first gens but I know it was an issue with the frame horns on the second gen. Most bumper manufacturers that were designing them for actual use started to add plates to tie into the frame along with standard mounting points. Failures were with significant repeated pulls

I would imagine a lot of failures probably came from pulls that were too jerky anyway

Got my lights mounted finally. Haven’t had a chance to test them yet but they are bright in the middle of the day. For any of you looking for lights there are probably better options than ARB. The mounting brackets required a lot of fabrication. They are deep and the lights were hitting the grill even when the brackets were at the front edge of the bumper. They would be perfect on an ARB bumper that sticks out farther.5B04C1D6-5E1D-4069-80D2-BED4CDA50485.jpg

Yeah, I hate wiring. It took longer to get the switch wiring through the firewall than the rest of the project combined.

    Those pesky grommets!

Just out of curiosity, how long did it take to you to remove the stock bumper and install the C4 one?

Less than 2 hours and that included mounting the winch, fogs and bumper

Update to this potential situation of not being able to access your control box with the hard wired controller. I ordered the above product but realized you can just do the following.

Ensure wireless controller is operational. This would be your primary method of operation.

If this fails and you need to access the hardwire method as a backup. Just take the wiring harness that comes with the winch (if not using wireless, please ignore this info), plug it in to the control box and leave it there all the time. Take the excess line and stow it using a Velcro strap or whatever you want and just stow it in your engine compartment so it is ready to go.

Just got my flattop overland bumper and was wondering if the bumper could be installed and the winch added afterwards. For those of you that have installed, with the grill off, do you think there would be enough room to install a Warn Evo 12s?

I think it would be very difficult to install a winch with the bumper installed. The bumper removal is pretty quick and would be my first choice.

That’s easy, I only wash it about twice a year but just spray it off if the roads are overly bad. Never had any rust issues. I feel like the dirt is a natural barrier. I do clean the shock shafts and uniballs more frequently.

Hmm... I like this front bumper best I think, but I am finding that I will definitely have to relocate the TSS sensor since she's dead center on the 2021 Limited. Dang it!

How many inches did y'alls front drop once you added with bumper with your winch, light bar, fogs, and LP9's?

I'm currently running 285/75/18 with the 17 TRD PRO suspension and don't have any rubbing but am worried that once I add all of this weight it could cause some rubbing.

If it does cause rubbing what would y'all suggest doing? I'd like to keep the tires that I have on them.

I had that same size tire and the Coachbuilder kit and had no rubbing. You should be fine.

Its the stock TRD PRO, so you think that I can get away without doing the coachbuilder kit?

BTW, how does that coachbuilder kit ride? I saw that and seems to be pretty decent

Yes I think you can. There are people running that tire size on a stock Pro. I had the Cooper at3 xlt's and they are a tad under 35" tall and like 11.6" wide. The C4 front bumper will give some room also.

I had the coachbuilder on my 19 and the Westcott front on my 20. I liked the feel of the Westcott better.
