71k on the odo and I dont know if it's time to replace the shocks. The wife has been complaining that the truck bounces around too much but I thought she's just imagining things. I'm not so sure.

If I have to put new shocks on I would rather take the opportunity to upgrade to 6112/5160 but they're on back order everywhere.

At 71k I’m pretty sure your stockers are shot. I usually replace around 50k.

Shit - I had 298,197 on my 2008 TRD bilsteins when I traded it in - never noticed they rode any different from day 1. I thought they were lifetime warranty?

This is making me feel guilty... I’m at 150k and still on the original set..
the truck drives great still though

I plan on upgrading mine around 50k. Might not be shot but a lot of shocks only last 50k so it’s a great excuse to upgrade.

Shocks (all of them) start to lose their dampening abilities at about 50k, most don't notice the change at first. I have put over 100k on Bilstein 4600 a few times, and always notice the improvement when the old are replaced with new.

Since 1986 I have had 7 new from the dealer Toyotas. Trucks and cars. My observation over all these years and vehicles is that at 60,000 miles the stockers are on their way out (I see Rex ^^^ is in that ballpark too).

My 2017 Tundra (SR5) is at 69,000 miles. I'm on the stockers and I stick by my 35 year observation. I have a set of TRD OR (brand new bought off this board) in the boxes just waiting for me to get the right time to get them put on.

Like growing hair and bulging waste lines......you don't notice the day-to-day changes over time.

The degradation in ride quality is so subtle it's hard to detect. I guess a lot of it depends on how you drive them, but by 50k on ANY pickup, I'll notice it on rough two tracks and washboard gravel.

I replaced the original plain shocks on my 2013 SR5 at 72,000 with Bilstein 4600s and the difference was night and day. It had such a land yacht "wallowing" feel when turning or changing lanes and after the change it drove like a truck is supposed to. A plus is it gave me a small 3/4 in lift all round, so my original stockers must have been shot for sure.

Finally replaced the shocks at exactly 73,000 miles. Went with the Fox 2.0 front coilovers and rear shocks. I think I paid $1,100 or thereabouts, shipped. Another $500 for the installation and alignment.

I guess it rides a little better. A little bit less bouncy. And they came set for a perfectly level truck.

But I don't think it was worth the money over the original 4600s with the tuff country spacer leveling kit I had. I know the shocks needed replacement but I think new OEM shocks would have been just as good as the Fox. Just my observation.

I do like the silver and black color scheme better than the blue and yellow OE shocks, so there's that.
