I am looking at the Redarc system and agree completely on the second battery! After reading on the solar route it really comes down to storing power not manufacturing it.

We love ours. I have mounts for it on our 2003 Land Cruiser and on my utility trailer so we can park the trailer as an "RV" and still have the Cruiser or my Tundra to go tool around in instead of having to pack up the tent every morning. I'm 6'-5" so we got the XL. Stole it for $659 on eBay last year, brand new. Snagged the annex for a couple hundred. I built a custom fairing for it to cut down on wind noise which was pretty bad on the interstate.

Had the Smittybilt Overlander XL on my Tacoma this past year and it was well worth the money. Spent many nights in it with high winds and torrential downpours and never had an issue. Will be mounting it on my Tundra this year.

Is anyone using the SB XL on their crewmax? It looks like it would hang off the end a little

It will certainly hang off but I'm not sure it will be a problem. Let me find a picture of mine on my DC.

My bed is 6.5' roughly and the Crew is 5.5' roughly. This pic should give you a good indication. It's a monstrous RTT.

I’ve had my smittybilt for 4 years now roughly and no issues. Paid $650 it new on eBay.

Thank you for that. There's a youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWJKaActQwc and now I'm curious if that is the real XL. It doesn't hang off nearly as much as I thought. Maybe it's the spacing on bars. I can't tell.

Yep, that's the XL. They have it pushed up right against the cab. If my shot was more from the side, you can see that mine is more centered over my bed length. Long story short, you are good to go with the XL and a CrewMax.
