I’m going thru my checklist as well right now and am totally new to upgrading suspensions.
I will say that yes the carrier bearing drop is necessary for anything +2 or higher. I also ordered new bushings and cushions for back shocks cuz new ones don’t come with them.
Curious if I’m missing something as well. What UCA you go with? I went with JBA, cheapest and simple.

Coachbuilder shims and +2 shackles arriving today. In limbo on the 6112’s like everyone else. Have 5160’s on the way.

Mine will be looking like it skipped leg day as well when I get my 6112(1.9)/5160 installed. The wife doesn't think that I need new tires bc I only have 13k miles on them. We shall se what she thinks when I roll up with everything installed, or maybe I'll just wait until I go back to work out town and get my tires and then act like they've been on there the whole time :monocle:

What's on your mind regarding wheels and tires? I ask because that's what I'm dealing with. I did the 6112(1.9) and 5160's +1 on 285/55/R20 stock TSS wheels.
Some days I like the look and some days I absolutely hate it. My mind goes from.... go with 285/60/R20 or 275/65/R20 or 285/70/R18 Method 312's or 285/70/R17 Icon Vector's. :notsure:

Wondering what your thoughts are. Thank you.

You don’t want to know my thoughts!! LOL my thoughts are “ what can I get away with without my wife noticing?!? “

I’m kind of on the same page as you. I’m kind of set on getting the Toyo Open Country AT3’s. 285/60r20 on the factory wheels. I think they will fill the wheel well just fine and discount tire has them for $308 a tire which I think is cheap compared to the other sizes and prices. But I do go back and think of the 275/65r20 as well. Just not sure if there will be 100% clearance with those.
Can’t hide getting new wheels and tires lol. Although I have seen some really clean bronze wheel setups with the cement tundras!

Go 35s and gears. Im on 34s sorta (Mickey ATZ 295/70/17) and pretty damn envious of 35's. Even my buddy that just rolled in with a new 150 got 35s... We all know the Tundra is the better man and its more than about tire size, but damn it looks sweet- I thought it was a 250 a first glance> Would never go 150 over Tundra unless maybe Raptor or Roush.

In my humble opinion the meat and the offset are important factors. Trim what has to be trimmed. zero offset looks badass paired with a foot of meat and 35s.

I think as long as I replace them with the same color black wheels, my girl friend won't notice. LOQ. (Laughing Out Quietly) Very Quietly.

No, but the Pro guys can fit 295/70r18 on stock wheels and suspension with no issues so I am going to try it once my Trail Grapplers wear out in about 15-20k. The Pro is 2" taller than stock Tundras and I'm at 1.9" so I think it will be fine on stock wheels. I've ditched the idea, for now, of aftermarket wheels especially since the only time the Pro guys run into issues with that size seems to be due to wheel spacers or aftermarket wheels because of offsets being different from the factory wheels.

Bumping this question a bit. After this set up, is there anything else I can do to go bigger without spending money to replace what i've already done? Looking for more lift without giving up integrity of vehicle or double spending.

You can add a drop bracket style lift, but they’re somewhat costly.

Really like the looks of your truck. What you've got going on is pretty much exactly what I'd like to do. May be a silly question but did you do anything else besides the 6112s and 5160s? Anything like diff drop or CB drop? Any new vibrations or noises after the changeout from stock?

Nothing besides the shocks. The ride quality is great, not that stock was horrible, but this is better. No new sounds or anything like that.

I'm also on 6112's at the top setting, 5160's + Icon AAL's in the rear. I'm currently running 275/70r18 Ridge Grappers on Ray10's. I think with the front setup alone, you could easily run 285/70's if you don't want to touch anything else (i.e. massaging fender liners, removing flaps, etc.). with the TRD rims, you could probably run 295/70's with a little massaging. if you don't offroad, 295's would be easy, probably minor rubbing at full lock. for what it's worth, I'll probably be moving to either 285/70 or 295/70's soon. 275's look a little undersized.

    edit:
this pic is with everything listed above, but before the adding the Icon AAL.

I've got the 6112/5160's, toytec shackles, diff drop, and camburg ucas ready. For those that did their own install, how long did it take? I've got access to a lift and any and every tool at my disposal. I don't think I have much rust to deal with. I'm anticipating at least half a day after watching install videos. Hardest part looks to be the UCA's and getting the ball joint off then the long bolt out. Does anyone have a list of torque specs for everything?

yeah, maybe the 285/70 might be a better fit. you're really not losing all that much from a 295/70, with the exception of tire selection. but you still get close to a 34" tire and depending on the brand, you also get some good weight savings as well. hopefully someone who wheels a 295/70 with a similar setup can chime in

I apologize if this has been addressed previously. I was looking for this answer for a couple dozen pages but did not see it.

I will be installing 6112s on my 2021 and was planning on setting them to the 2.5" height. I see a lot of folks running them at 1.9 with 2 shims on one side and 1 on the other. As I understand it, a 1/4" shim gets you 1/2" of height. Essentially, many have chosen to run the lower setting and add lift to end up with about the same height change and setting it to the top.

    Why?

reducing the preload on the springs at 1.9 vs 2.5, with the idea that you’ll get a softer ride. to be honest, straight 2.5 isn’t bad at all. it’s a truck, not a luxury car

As I understand it, the spring rate for the 6112 is actually less than stock, and it is a linear spring. Preloading a linear spring does not change the rate or "stiffness", but adjusts the ride height (assuming the spring is already loaded in both situations). At least from my engineering background, other than changing the location of the stroke of the damper you are living in as normal height, it should not effect the stiffness of the ride. These 6112s have digressive dampening, so I suppose it could make a difference depending on the relationship between the location of the piston and the rate of dampening, but would have to research if that makes a difference in the middle of the stroke range.

you’ve done a lot more research than I've ever done lol. but it makes sense... I never knew about the linear spring part. I guess that’s why it still rides nice on 2.5.

Lol, conversely, I am going to put that dude to the top, get some 17's with the optimum offsets (maybe +10mm to +12mm), jam 35x12.5's in there, and bust out the reciprocating saw and heat gun for anything that stands in the way.
