how do the medium load leaf springs ride, and what kind of lift did you get?

    Thanks

Care to snap some photos? Waiting to hear how they ride compared to the 6112s. Looking forward to some review action.

For sure! I'll snap some tonight. They honestly are very similar to the 6112s. It does seem like the Dobs are higher quality though.

Mine are in, I just finished a few hours ago. I took my time because I wanted to address some surface rust while the LCA's were off. I will have to repeat what others have said about other similar setups, the ride is firmer but better. Like much, much better than stock in my opinion. I feel the truck is now inviting me to hit bumps harder and faster. The braking feels so different now, I like it. The way the truck felt under braking never bothered me before but I love this new feeling of increased control and lack of nose dive. I'll write more about it once I get an alignment and I run a trail.

looks good. Even with that bumper seems a little nose high? Any lift in the rear?

Thanks! Nope, no lift in the rear. Just tired old leafs and about 400lbs in the bed. I am going to address the rear end soon.

Looks good! What coils did you get and what clip setting are the shocks at? Also any chance you could get a measurement from the center of the hub to bottom of the fender?

Thank you! I got the 610 coils since I will be installing a winch on my bumper. The clips are set as they were shipped, so on the second spot. I am measuring 25" from center of the hub to the fender. A bit lower than that on the driver side actually so I'll probably be moving the clip on the driver side to get rid of the notorious driver side lean.

I think you'll really like the set up. Feels great. I was on the fence about which company to go with but my initial impressions of Dobinsons is very positive. I have an appointment to get an alignment this afternoon. Hopefully tomorrow I can hit a trail and give a report with more substance.

I wrote this in the 2nd gen thread. Reposting here.
I just returned from a short snow bashing trip. I really put the hammer down a few times and I am impressed. I have no experience with 6112's but I have to say I really like the Dobinsons a lot. I drove a lot more spirited just to see what the truck would do. As I said before the ride is firmer. But the dampening is so much better. The trucks hits a bump or hole, soaks it up and then it's ready for the next hit. No rocking back and forth or fore and aft. This is how these trucks should come from Toyota in my opinion. If there is "better" suspension out there for these trucks I can tell you right now I do not need it. I am blown away and I've only done the front. I can only imagine what it'll ride like when I do new leafs and shocks in the rear. Soon.

For IMS guys, or people with the dobinsons 2.25 in rear leaf springs, what did you set the front at?

Considering going 3in on both sides, and then a spacer on the driver's side. Want to keep a 1.5 inch rake, so should I rather go 3in on the driver, and set it at 2.5in on the passenger?

    Thanks a bunch

Anyone with the IMS have real world lift numbers for their coilovers? If it says 3" of lift, are you getting 3?

Ordered the IMS and 780 coils (3in lift, stock load), and wound up getting 4.5 inches of lift. I have the driver’s side set to normal on the 2nd clip, and on the passenger at the lowest, which is supposed to be 2.5 inches.

I ordered the teal color, but got black, and who knows about the coils. I can’t imagine it being any taller, and I doubt it will settle 1.5 inches lol.

That is concerning. I have run OME suspensions which always tend to run .5 to 1inch higher than advertised, but 1.5 to 2 inches higher is excessive and would concern me on suspension angles, etc. So Dobinsons springs also run higher than advertised? Were your original springs old, sagging? Did you install adjustable UCA?

@TundraLaw As mentioned before in this thread, im running the 778’s on the twin tubes. On those, i lost 1” on a 10 mile drive. I measured as soon as i let the jack drop, and once i got back in from my drive. I havnt lost any more since (15k miles). Im at 25” center hub to bottom fender.

That would be nice. I'd still be at 3.5 inches, but I'd take it. Doesn't seem like there would be much down travel after that though? Can you take a pic of your coilovers. Want to see how close the springs are to each other.
