    If that is the case. If i can figure out which pins on the factory harness that does that, i can tap into it with the retention adapter harness. Im only missing 2 wires. I got sound, but i cant find which pins are responsible for the video signal.

    The factory dvd player got power by itself on my Limited. I can pop the screen down and it will power up on it own.

    I tested mine and if I turn the radio off (non-nav) it will turn the player off. Unfortunately, I need to find this work around. I mean, eventually I will replace even the factory amp so getting an idatalink maestro with a rse capable headunit would be pointless since that system will not be in place. Maybe worth just waiting and getting a new player back there later, but it's gonna be a while before I do that so idk. Seems if I can get away with something like the pac rp4.2-ty11 and figure something out for the rse temporarily, I can do so etching later more permanent.

    I plan on using these components later on:
    Pioneer AVH-X4700BS (own)
    Pioneer GM-9605 {5 Channel amp (own)}
    Pioneer GM-6500F {4 Channel amp (own)}
    Pioneer TS-D69F Component fronts
    Pioneer TS-D65F Component rears
    Pioneer TS-A878 coaxial for dash/rear pillar
    Pioneer TS-W841D 8" Shallow mount (own)

    4 channel will handle front and rear sound stage while 5 channel will handle main sound stage/subwoofer.

    I will eventually get to this, but I need to get something temporary for when I install the head unit for functionality with factory system while retaining rse for my kids

    I found a video on a 2012 Toy Sequoia being upgraded with the Dasaita HU running the VIVID 11 UI. The guy was able to utilize the Axxess adaptors to still be able to use the RSE. The RSE has two inputs DVD&VIDEO from the remote control. The output on the HU sends the video via HDMI and is converted to Composite and hooked up to the AUX input on the center console in the rear. Check out the video cause seeing is believing. It looks like a mess as he installs it but looks like it works very well.

    I'm ordering my HU to install into my 2012 Sequoia Platinum. So done with the out of date NAV that I can't update anymore.

    The installer did a good job with the video and a fix to a known problem... If your not as handy as the installer or don't have the patience, I have the dasaita HUnand my RSE still works with factory wireless headphones and remote or OSD. I kinda like it not hearing the movie when I want to listen to tunes...

    same on my 2017 limited. I have the jvc 10” and the rse will still function with wireless headphones.

    I just had this HU installed as well and I have after market RES that pumps sound through car speakers. RES supports headphones and remote (don't remember name of the unit though... I had OEM RES in my TRD, but the screen was small and sound was sort of crappy... now I have bigger screen and mouth clearer sound)

    Was it hard to install the aftermarket rse?
    How did you wire it for sound?

    I didn't do it myself, took it to the shop... they ran an AUX wire to Audio IN (if I understood it correctly)

    Stock city…researching the build!
    If anyone is interested, I was able to get about 99% function on my RSE with the Dasaita HU. What I mean by that is I still have the option to hear the dvd player through my stereo speakers and also able to have the rear flip down screen play whatever is on my HU.

    The DVD-thru-the-speakers solve: use Axxess AX-TOYRSAV harness from the rca plug on the back of the Dasaita unit. You’ll use the red and white audio cords. The yellow video cord will not work because the plug the Axxess harness goes into only has audio. The video signal is a separate plug. I didn’t bother splicing that in since I’m not interested in watching DVDs from my front seat. On your HU interface select A/V. It will show an exclamation point because there’s no video signal but the audio will be there.

    To mirror the HU with the rear screen solve:
    Run an hdmi cable from the back of the unit into an HDMI converter (just like the one that @tuzzman found from the YT install vid). Set it to ntsc, give it a power source via usb, and plug your rca cables into the rear input of the RSE. On your HU go to your A/V input and witness whatever you have on the HU mirrors back on rear flip.

    All to say, a long walk for a YouTube sandwhich but the littles are enjoying be able to watch from the backseat. And now I can make sure they’re not watching some crap that’ll brainwash them.

    By the way, if you don’t wanna hear what they’re watching through the speakers the headphones still get the audio.

    This beats having to splice and is all plug and play.

    If next time you pull the radio out. Can you please take pictures of how you have it setup? I get confused reading all the steps. Sorry. not very tech savvy.

    Sure. Or I can draw it out for you. Pics show nothing but a rat’s best behind the stereo. I tried uploading a vid from my phone but it says invalid format.

    You might upload the vid to YouTube and add the link for that video here. But video and pictures would definitely help.
