Agreed. I never understood the whole 'Toyota tax' thing until I went through business classes in college, and starting reading about W. Edwards Deming, JIT manufacturing, etc.

Then it was just a matter of waiting until I could afford the vehicle I wanted. As I read elsewhere in another thread, when the biggest gripes I have are stuff like no auto-up for windows, that's a good thing. I mean, it's taken me a year to compile a list of like 3 or 4 piddly little things that would be nice to correct on my Tundra, all of which I could do on my own. Meanwhile, it took me maybe a month or two to compile a far longer list of piddly AND non-piddly list on my prior F150.

Just pointing out the obvious. Toyota is still stuck in the stone ages, regardless how ya'll may feel. At the end of the day us TRD owners are basically driving a dressed up SR5. Considering the premium price we've paid (some over sticker), i would expect Toyota to bring it up to modern times. Oh'well, guess I'll just sit around and congrats folks for dumping more money into mods just to bring it up to their standards lol.

I like my reliable Pro, but there's definitely room for improvement. Toyota is sucking bolls on this.

On another note: I was just about to trade in my paid off Pro for a Raptor, but decided to use the extra funds towards a pool instead.

The #1 and #2 trucks for resale value are the Tacoma and the Tundra. Couple that with paying less up front, why would you drop 70k on a raptor that will be worth LESS than a same model year pro 4-5 years later?

The raptor also has great resale value and I'm seeing alot of folks paying well over sticker for the TRD pro. At the end of the day, I guess it's all a wash.

For 5K you can have a raptor that is reliable and has a V8 lol Just have to be willing to do some research and put some time in. Raptors are incredibly overhyped I feel like they a played off to be alot more than they actually are worth but they are still cool in my opinion

OP you'll be really mind blown when you buy a raptor and realize it's not a trophy truck and you're still stuck doing 12mph over little bumps :D

Sparky your argument is very convincing. It almost made me forget that toyota is working on the next gen tundra platform as we all know. But it doesn't matter as I hate the idea that people might think my tundra is as you said "stuck in the stone ages" and that "we've paid premium prices". Afterall they will just trick us again with the new platform. What did we get in return already with our trucks? An outdated truck it seems! And you're right--maybe thats why i was dumping more money into mods just to bring it up to modern times. You totally got it figured out sparky. I'll contact my local ram dealer this week on their 92k TRX. I'm not sure if financially this makes sense but I can see you are showing us the way and I totally and blindly trust your judgement. Thanks bro.

If you can manage the “base” model you can get the TRX for about 70k US. lol

Good thought but let's wait for Sparky to chime in. The Base TRX might just be a dolled up 1500 Ram. Can't be sure but Sparky will know.

Can you post some pix of your glorified SR5 with the mods you've done so far? And how much do you want for it?

Go post on a Ford or ram forum, if this site was for bitching and moaning about what the tundra isn’t, there’d be a pinned thread

It’s a good no bullshit, turn key and go truck, possibly the last in the American market. You knew that buying it I hope. Though it seems instead, you’re scanning the internet with goo goo eyes dreaming of content from like minded folks- possibly sponsored videos/posts to make you feel warm and fuzzy inside. Dump your tundra and the forum and go buy your raptor/Trx- but no sense in posting negative shit due to your lack of due diligence before making your purchase. Toyota never claimed anything the tundra is not- and it’s there in black and white bold letters, not fine print.

Now go trade your kidney and trd pro for a trx and post on your ram forums how “toTaLly BeTteR iT Is tHan ThE TrD pRo”

I’ll be over here rippin rev limiting shitties in a snow covered parking lot, while you apply more meguiar’s quick detailer worryingly on your $90k polished turd.

    cheers!

    Sparky got a spankin'

I've never understood why adults will moan, whine, groan and bitch about their perceived 1st world problems and slights by big, bad Toyota. If you are miserable, then make a change. Are you so insecure that you need me to "validate your feelings"?

Sparky has a 2019 Pro. Assuming average condition, he should be able to sell it for ~$45K. Use that money to get what you want. Otherwise, leave your dog and this forum alone, and do something constructive.

I agree with the OP, you could get a base raptor crew cab for 55k. A base ecoboost CC just under 40k. About the same difference with a trd pro and base sr5 right now. I just feel like there is so much more difference in the raptor upgrade then the trd pro over the base models. I don't think you can buy a base f150 and turn it into a raptor for less like you can with a trd pro

If I was unhappy with my Tundra Pro, I'd go trade it in and not look back. The last thing I'd do is troll the interwebz looking for attention.

Buy whatever floats your boat. It's your money. No one cares, and if they do they shouldn't.
