Mine. 5100 middle setting. Barely rubbed on the stock skid plate at full lock. Trimmed where it rubbed

1.3 setting on 6112’s. I’ve run the tires for a few weeks now and I’m convinced they are a great option if you don’t want to get crazy(confirms many other like comments). To me, the truck looks “right” with this size. 3406D4FE-4656-40AD-BDDC-CDCBCC49CA5C.jpg

There was rubbing at full turn on the skid plate. I have Bilstein 5110 on the middle setting with original springs. My tire shop bent the plate up in about ten minutes. It’s all good now. I haven’t really hit the road with them yet but I will let you guys know how they ride.

I had the same exact problem. Did you use your original springs over again?

Here’s a few more. Slight road noise. But I’m coming from a road tire. I like it.

I have a 2015 trd off-road trim. I'm looking to put either 275/70 r18 nittos or ko2s on mine. Truthfully I've never cared much for the lifted look. Between having a elderly father and use my truck mostly for towing a boat to go fishing. All I truly care about is having good tires for not so well maintained boat landings. With that being said, as far as I know, the only reason you want a lifted or leveled truck is to fit bigger tires and a desired look. Is there any other reason to level my tundra (spacers is what I'd go with currently due to $) seeing as others aren't having rubbing issues?

If these are +25 offset this tells me the stock TRD +60 wheels and 1.25" spacers would fit on stock TRD suspension (+25 to +60 is 1.38" difference). Did you do any major trimming?

So I didn't realize the SCS wheels were 9" and the stocks are 8".

    275/65/18, 8" +60 vs. 275/70/18, 9" +25. Mainly for my own informational purposes ;).

Some great looking trucks and pics. Thanks everyone for sharing...its really helpful. Still a little confused though...will 275/70r18 Cooper Discoverer XLTs rub or not rub on a stock 2014 Tundra DC 4x4 SR5? I'm looking at these tires as a change up from Michelin 275/65r18 LTX M/S2s and I thought they'd work fine as it only would be about a 1" difference in height of the tire. However, after reading a few of the posts in this thread I'm not really convinced it'll work and am trying to avoid going down the rabbit hole of $$$$ to install lifts, spacers, etc. to make it work.

    Thoughts appreciated!

Will work if no other modifications such as lift or aftermarket rims. A lift actually caused mine to rub on the factory skid. Just bent it in with a mallet.

275/70-18 fit perfect all stock- stock suspension and rims. Here are a couple pics of mine with that size.

Looks great! Since you appear to have TRD options, any idea if itll be compatible with SR5? I'm still not smart enough on how all the trucks differ as far as options, etc but I love that stock look you have. Same thing I'm shooting for.

My truck is a SR5 with the TRD Off road package, SR5 upgrade package, convenience package. But yes, you will have no issue running 275/70-18 on any stock 3rd gen Tundra regardless of trim level with stock 18 inch wheels. That size also works with aftermarket wheels, as long as the offsets are not too extreme.

Yeah I dont think the off road pkg changes size of anything on the sr5 as far as what you're doing. Different shocks and rims but I believe same specs as far as lift, rim size, offset etc. The Trd pro does have differences w front being lifted more.

I have a 3"/2" readylift and have 275/70/18 tires on my stock wheels. The Kenda tires specs are a tad bigger in overall diameter than the traditional math says. I could fit larger tires but the problem is I couldn't fit in the garage. Still love the truck and the way it looks though.

Pulled trigger and ordered the 275/70r18 Cooper Discoverer XLTs this morning through Discount Tire. Thanks everyone for the help and fingers crossed just to be sure there will be no rubbing. Either way, I will report back with pics and a follow up.

Lifting and tires are not just for looks, though many install them for that reason alone. In practical terms the bigger tires get you more ground clearance. That's of little use to pavement trucks, but if you deal with deep snow or go into rougher terrain it makes a huge difference.

No lift will prevent the "skid" plate rubbing people experience going to a bigger tire. That is a product of wheel offset (lateral clearance) not ride height. Easiest way to address it is to bend or trim the plate. Took about 30 seconds with a jigsaw to do both sides on mine.

Update from OP here. I've got pictures buried in here of my 2017 stock wheels and suspension on 275/70r18 Ridge Grapplers that did not rub. I have since sold that truck for a 2020 and did 6112's at 1.9" running the same size in Trail Grapplers and again no rub.

How’s the road noise with the new tires? Trying to decide if I want another set of Ridge Grapplers or try something else. Thanks.

@AZBoatHauler I've got about 22k on them now. Compared to my previous Ridge Grapplers yes they are louder but not horrible, I can't here them over the radio at a decent volume and most of the time can't here them over my 8" BAmuffler. They are loudest on fresh pavement. Honestly though I enjoy the sound of a mud tire. This things grip and I love them. When they wear out I'll probably get another set if I don't get Toyo AT3 which we have on our 4runner and I'm very impressed with them.

Had a set of Michelin LTX A/T2, 275/70/18 installed today. Similar tire to what came original on the truck. Initial impression - it feels familiar with a little more float going on (maybe due to the increased size or tire rating?). I was worried going from a P rated tire to an E rated tire it would ride a lot worse. After 13 miles, it seems to ride pretty nice.

    I am also running a 1.75" RC level in the front. T 6.jpg T 2.jpg

Anybody have pictures in this size of Micky Thompson ATZ P3 or Cooper ST Maxx? I’m trying to decide between either of those or Duratracs.
