I would LOVE to do this, but the damn border will probably be closed for at least another half a year if not more

Nice! I know nothing on the racing rules, would you ever get to the point where you would need a 5 point harness?

Yes, there gets a point where if you run too fast you have to have a full cage and all. I don't know what that time is.

IIRC the time is 11.40 seconds for a 5 point harness and a 6 point roll bar.

At my track, you just need a fire jacket for under 11.5 sec
You don't need a roll cage/harness until 9.99 or 135 mph, I am still quite far away from that (best of 11.4@120 without nitrous)

Hey Viktor and other AWD enthusiasts I figured I would post this here since this is kind of the default "AWD Tundra thread" on this forum...I wanted to let y'all know since I haven't heard of anyone else doing this yet but I just successfully completed an AWD conversion on my 2014 Tundra. I used a LC200/LX570 T-case and swapped out the rear output flange with one from a 2007-2013 Tundra t-case as the Land Cruiser has a much smaller rear flange than our trucks. Going into this I had first determined that the front and rear driveshaft interchange was the same from the 2007-2013 and 2014+ trucks so overall t-case dimensions were expected to be equivalent between the Aisin and Borg-Warner units and as determined in other threads the Land Cruiser and earlier Tundra cases were physically interchangeable with no driveline modifications so I speculated that the Land Cruiser case should then also be a direct bolt in replacement for the Borg-Warner case. Luckily this all proved to be true and the Land Cruiser case easily bolted in place of the Borg-Warner case just like it was meant to go there, the crossmember holes lined up perfectly as well. Electrically there is unfortunately no way that I'm aware of to control the Land Cruiser case so I'm essentially just a straight AWD truck now, which is perfectly fine with me in all honesty. Coming over from the GM world the lack of an AWD option was one of my few major gripes with the Tundra, especially since I'm reminded of it every time I drive my wife's Escalade lol! At this point the only downside is that my 4lo and 4hi lights are flashing so I need to figure out a way to fool the truck into thinking everything is fine. I left the 4wd switch on 4hi and the original encoder motor, front differential actuator plugged in but the Borg-Warner has a pressure sensor/switch and another mystery wire that goes into the case that had to be left unplugged. The important part is that the truck drives great and is AWD! I don't do any off-roading so I don't foresee needing the 4lock feature and I've never put the truck in lo-range except once just to verify that it would. I did a few little traction tests on a snowy hill from a stop in both drive and reverse and the Torsen device did an excellent job of biasing torque and the truck powered up the hill with zero trouble. Doing the same in 2wd was not previously possible. Another plus of this is that since the 4wd switch is always on 4hi traction control is now a simple on-the-fly one button push to turn-off instead of that ridiculous two stage, only possible at a stop procedure like it is in 2wd (my only other notable gripe compared to the competition). I'll make a thread for this once I work the minor electrical kinks out and establish that this should be good to go long term, just wanted to share that AWD in a 2014+ IS possible and is mechanically very straightforward. Cheers!

    Nice work man!
I’ve had many people reach out to me over the years wanting an AWD conversion done on their 2014+ trucks and I’ve always told them that it shouldn’t be a problem to have full time AWD as long as they are willing to give up the ability to shift into 2HI or 4LO or lock the centre diff.
Now you have confirmed that it is mostly bolt on, which is great, and I am happy the setup satisfies your needs!
Please let us know if you can get the electronics figured out, I am sure there would be a lot of guys interested in doing this swap once full functionality is achieved.

I certainly will! I found some wiring diagrams so I'm confident that I can at least get the flashing 4hi/4lo lights to shut off so that the truck just thinks it's in 4hi (which it behaves like as far as I can tell, minus the flashing lights). As for actually controlling the shift actuator on the LC case I don't know if I'll dive into that. Obviously, as you know, the wiring is entirely different between the Aisin cases and Borg-Warner. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable with electronics than me could probably rig up an auxiliary system to run the shift motors with limit switches and make it work pretty easily...I might be able to muddle my way through it but it would be a bit of an endeavor for me I think lol!

That's very cool! Well researched and well done! I also look forward to reading the write-up. I would speculate that the center differential would be relatively straightforward to figure out, but I could be wrong. With the LC T-case, were you able to collect the LC 4WD ECU? That could be of use. It'd be nifty if a custom harness was all that would be needed to sort the lights and the ability to access 4LO/differential lock...

Unfortunately no I wasn't. I haven't found a relevant wiring diagram for the LC yet but I found some for the Borg-Warner case that I took out and it looks like a relatively simple system for a modern rig. The Aisin case actuator is just a couple motors driving a gear set to move the shift rods so if nothing else an auxiliary system could probably be wired in to run the motors.

I'm sure the wiring diagram is out there somewhere, it's just a matter of time before you stumble across it. What you've done is groundbreaking though regardless. It'll be interesting to read the journey.

Thank you, I caught that when I watched the video again. You can see a sliver of the front drivers tire not spinning.

Viktor, I notice when you launch you are not using brake-torque method, why is that?

I just got a vbox and when I try to launch the truck the best I could get was 8+ sec in 0-100kmh since I spent half of the time sideways, that's brake-torque to about 1900rpm, launching in 2wd and tow mode.

The truck makes so much torque down low that it pushes through the brakes if I give it even half throttle.
If your truck is 4x4, you should absolutely launch in 4wd.

Ok, I'm going to give that a try when truck is back home, I wonder what's the 1/4 time for a Harrop stage 1, I'm probably one of very few cares about ET on an off road truck, old habits die hard I guess.

    On a 4 door 4x4 Tundra, I would expect high 13s/low 14s from Harrop stage 1
