I've loved a couple ambers in my life. One broke my heart and the other was only for a night. But I could see myself giving it another try with this one!

I think we should settle this by having @Headlight Revolution ship me a set and I can post pics of them on my truck.

Was about to pull the trigger on the normal XBs and then there is this brain cramp just thrown out there for consideration...

I’ll have them for sale when they release . Might be a little slow to make it to my website, but I’ll have em! I’m gonna get a set for myself and compare them against my OEM LEDs.

Coming from a spoiled HID retrofit guy, the OEM LEDs aren't that great so I'm curious if the XBs would solve my complaints.

Full retrofit like FX-R or similar? I highly doubt these would out do that. I’m not disappointed in my OEM LEDs at this point though. And I came from FX-R 3.0s in my Taco.

I should clarify, budget retrofit guy. Just NHK G5-R bi-xenon retrofits in my 4runner and my 2nd gen tundra. The OEM LEDs are better than halogens for sure but compared to my 2nd gen, they have lots of hot spots, poor cut offs, not as wide. Maybe somethings just wrong with my OEM LEDs, they were already installed/wired to the truck when I bought it and I haven't gone back to double check that wiring but if they are working with no faults I don't think you can really screw it up?

From what I know now, these will be running the same price as the White DRL version, coming in at $1,150 for the set! :)

Agreed, I think amber really does well on specific colors of trucks. I'd need to see them on more colors to really know though. Still working on the tails!

That sounds about right for the OEM LED performances, the Low beam is fairly concentrated but not as fluid as a projector would be like you were mentioning, the OEMs really shine on their high beams though, it is brighter than the XB LED high beam so if you use your high beams on a daily basis, the OEMs might make more sense for you. The XBs low beam is brighter than the OEMs and with a better beam pattern overall on both Low and High beam, it's just that they lack the sheer output of the OEM high beams.

I would say that the XBs are a happy-medium between the OEM LEDs and a full projector retrofit. They'll be better than the OEMs for the most part performance-wise and warranty-wise, but not as bright as a proper projector retrofit with a quality setup. :) For the ease of install and the performance you get, I really am a fan of the XB LED headlights.

Great comparison thanks! I rarely use my high beams, and if I do they could just as easily be drowned out by the XL80 ditch lights. Sounds like I'll be watching for these amber drl XBs to drop!

So I guess I'll just ask this directly... Are the XB LEDs in fact better than the OEM LEDs or are they not? They may have never been tested head-to-head, and that's fine as well. I have an MGM and an affection for amber so I'll probably be finding myself with a set of these on hand no matter what, but I am just curious if I'll be finding myself attempting to retrofit amber into the OEM LEDs...
