Amazing craftsmanship on that drawer, and the random tips on lesser-known materials like the epoxy and Starboard are appreciated!

How do you like the S1's for ditch lights? They're the only ones I'm considering because the footprint is so small.

Thank you! In try to give some useful info back. I have learned so much from forums over the years.

They are pretty damn good! I also didn't want a big foot print there, they fit the bill for me.

Going on a New Years trip with some buddies.... Was going to take the big truck, but Dunes+Big truck sounds like trouble.... So I have two days to get the tundra ready for winter camping.... Yikes. Need to get awning on, re mount the bumper lower.... BMC probably wont get done since my dad stole the welder!

Whipped up some awning brackets, playing with the new powder coater.

    A little stainless hardware

    Mounted. It feels solid.

My OCD kicked in..... I have done everything I can to keep height down. I realized I could have mounted the awning mounts to the bottom of my cross bars.... That drops me 1.25"

Now the hard part, I had to get the awning mounts lined up perfectly, the lower bolt goes inside the crossbar.... Them slide the 4 tabs into the sots, and tighten with a 1/4" box wrench on a allen driver because that was all that would fit between the roof and cross bars..... But its done.

Too many floppy bits to line up....

Structural angle has a radius on the inside edge, oh well. Its beefy.

Tighter to the body, but still clears. Done.

Next up, bumper and cab flex enough to rub on each other.... Not ideal. Pull it all back apart.... Not as much vertical adjustment as I had hoped.... Its a little lower, but not much. May need some felt/clear bra in the corners.

Also tried relocating the TSS sensor. No luck. I think it can just see the top face of the bumper... It has a 20 degree downward vision angle. Ugh. Its epoxied in place now [IMG] Looking for a "pro" grill as it relocates the sensor up from where mine is, but down from the original location so it should miss the hoop.

Tested out the tent section. Nice heavy canvas. A little PITA to put up, but not bad.

Great NYE, almost flipped the truck, but otherwise it was awesome!

Turning left and steep downhill, front edn slide ~2' sideways, pass front tire was just a few inches from the edge heading into a ravine. Friend winched me backwards and all was good.
Just about to the top of the hill.

This one got a little hairier.....

We were able to anchor him to a rock, and the back corner of his bumper. HiLift winch to add some tension and pivot the front of the truck back down hill off the anchor.... It was entertaining.... A lot of work since he was at the top of a big ass hill.

Well after reading through the fog light thread (after ordering my BD fogs....) I decided to get some SS3's. Much more road friendly than the BD, and way brighter.

Now the C4 bumper is not designed for the SS3's so it took a bit of doing.

First the mount will need to be modified to sit further towards the front of the light to hit the hole in the mount on the bumper.

Original plan, bracket that would go UNDER the C4 tab, bolt to the light bracket and tab. No dice. Holes are too close together, hits tab on bumper.

Plan B, weld that bitch together. Just use front hole. (its TIGHT, but still has adjustment on light)

In the powder coat oven now....

Toaster oven works great for little brackets getting powder coated.

And adapter harnesses made, get a weatherpack crimper if you don't have one, WAY better than needle nose etc. Even if they are the cheap ones.

And here we are SS3's in the C4 bumper. They fit the holes fine IMO
    [IMG]

    Brackets from the back.

And the money shot! DD right BD left (yes they are on, you can kinda see the yellow around the tire print)

DD is aimed a little lower, and has much tighter pattern. Ill get night shots at some point. Have another set to install on a different rig :D

Truck is working great. The bed setup works pretty well, the stove blocks pulling the fridge all the way out, but its OK so far. I will probably make a U shaped stove stand. Flip it upside down and the stove can nest in it for storage, flip it over on the end of the drawer and it makes a platform for the stove on the drawer.

Swapped out the grill insert for a Pro knock off. Just to relocate the TSS sensor.

I had glued it into the bottom of the surround, but it didn't like that spot. With the 20 degree down bean it was catching the edge of the bumper. Luckily the epoxy did not stick that well to the chrome, so a good tug popped it loose.

Opinion time...... LP9 or S8 in the hood bulge?

Upgraded to a 76 Designs phone holder, I like the the holder part, but the arm wiggles a bit on the Proclip mount. No sure if its just because its a 2 hole vs 4 though. Wish the arm was a little shorter, but nice product otherwise.

Took the truck down the Oregon coat to CA to see the redwoods. Great little trip. Beaches, Dunes, tress. Good times.

3 people, one dog, 5 days worth of gear. Not bad at all. Back seat has 2 backpacks and 2 duffels, plus some jackets etc.

One little whoops.... Slid the slider window open, it hit the latch for the windoor and instantly shattered the glass. The bumper for the slider is super loose in the track and obviously didn't work.

Out exploring, still a fair bit of snow to be found. Didn't go too far into is being solo and now feeling like shovel and winch fest.

Need to fix and put chainsaw in truck....

But we found a great camp spot, right on the convergence of two creeks. And saw a total of two trucks. Just lovely.

Debated doing an exhaust, but grown up me like quiet on freeways, mornings etc. Might be a tad loud, but it gives me the loud exhaust when wanted.... Nice units from ECS, all stainless, vacuum actuated to avoid electric stepper motor issues.

Cut outs went easy. Luckily there was a bolt on flange 4" from one, and 18" or so from the other. Made it WAY easier to get them slipped into place.

    Marked and cut.

Grind the hanger off and weld onto the cutout. Forget the shield gas.... on stainless.....

Hit with black paint since your mig is really set up for mild steel.

Tucked in, no its not as close as it looks to the DS.

Not many pictures underneath, but the trailer harness reverse and ground were tapped into. Heat shrink glue connectors, and retaped the factory split loom. Toyota fully wrapped it, nice to see in a high spray area. Weather packs were added so bumper could easily be removed if needed.

    Cut hole.

    Wiring

Simple trick, use foam brush for the cut metal edge, just spray your paint onto the brush, a good soak, then go around the inside with the brush. Simple and easy

Done. These are flood/scene lights, so not a ton of throw, but nice to have a little more back there.

Bumper time! OK overall its not bad, and it was cheap. But some things I just don't like.

Fist, cheapest cheesiest lights and hardware. Holes are pre cut for them....

    Tow tabs are pretty rough

The holes for the parking sensors are too big.... Its laser cut, why not cut them the right shape?!

    Factory hole

    Bumper hole

The bolts are a wee short IMO

And lastly, the brackets that the bumper bolts too, and the plates that bolt to the truck had a little gap between them. Tired to get a picture, but it was in an impossible location. Maybe not the end of the world, but that seems like a little more added stress on the bolts.

    But onto install!

Factory bumper is a LOT of parts.... And it takes a lot of disassembly to get them off!

    Old stuff off.

Bumper brackets are pretty nicely made. They tie to the factory hitch bolts. The hitch is stamped, so they add backer plates to avoid the curved areas.

Bumper just bolts to the brackets. I wish the hardware was a bit bigger (3x3/8" bolts each side) but I assume AP did their homework on strength. Getting it even side to side was a bit of a paint, but its on. Left the lights out to get some decent stainless hardware.... Not sure departure angle is any better (hitch is the lowest point anyway) but its definitely way beefier than the factory stuff!

Ill add a dab of silicone to the back side of the parking sensors when I do the lights, they flop too much for my liking.

The SDHQ brackets were perfect, getting them aligned was the hardest part of it. The paper templates kind of sucked, which is not what I have found on their products in the past.
