    Lots of shenanigans.
Nah, just didn't ride it over the winter and didn't have it hooked up on a trickle charger. She should be fine once I start riding again.

Ah. There are two Vulcans and a Gold Wing trike hibernating in my garage right now, all sipping from their battery tenders. Keep 'em charged during the winter and they don't freeze, even in Vermont.

Just tried to help a guy who's truck wouldn't start. Whipped out the Audew 1500a jump pack I bought a few months ago. It didn't work. What a let down.

Pulled out jumper cables and we got his truck started.

I'm now about 6 months with a Noco 70 booster. Very reliable and was powerful enough to boost a few completely dead batteries below -30C. Very satisfied so far.

I've not even owned it 7 weeks yet. It shows a full charge at 100%.

My Noco has helped me out a few times as well. Jumped my truck twice and my girlfriends old Honda a bunch of times. I know many people say they are overpriced but mine hasnt let me down yet.

How do you have a dead battery so frequently? In nearly 20 years of driving I don't think I've needed more than 1 or 2 jump starts.

I had a bad OEM battery on the Tundra plus a parasitic drain, plus during the -30 to -40C cold snap I helped a few neighbors who had not started their vehicles in a while.

Probably used it 5 times in the past 6 months.

If that is a concern which it is for most people, myself included being in Florida. Simple solution carry it in an ammocan. If it were to rupture not going to burn long at all....

    I have the HeavyDuty XP-10.

Way pricey compared to those discussed above but I have boosted several diesel trucks and a tractor with it with no problem at all. On my motorcycle rides across the country I take it and keep in in my tank bag. It keeps my phone and blue tooth headset for my helmet charged.

I've had it in my vehicle for over a year now and it is 90% charged (just checked it due to this post).

I have the XP-1 too (the original one which does not have the safety chord (keeps you from hooking the battery up backwards)).

Not to dissuade you from doing this in anyway, but lithium battery fires typically burn between 1,000-3,500 degrees Fahrenheit. I think there is a decent chance the ammo can would ignite everything in its vicinity if you had a catastrophic failure.

When a li-ion battery fails, it will let off both hydrogen and oxygen so I doesn’t need an outside source of air to burn.

    Anyhow, I’ll move on. :hattip:

Sounds like someone needs to send the idea to Project Farm and see how batteries burn in ammo cans.

I won’t tell you what I do for a living but there is a lot of this involved. :argue:

FWIW the ammo cans work better than the “explosion proof” bags they sell.

Gooloo GP4000 has been perfect in starting dead batteries. As a mailman, I see people stuck all the time from dead batteries. It has jumped F250 diesels, old suburbans, and many times my own mail truck. Super quick setup just make sure you jump straight to the battery and not a second + - spot. I keep it topped off every month and probably the best recovery gear I have.

I've had an antigravity XP-10 for years. It's jumped many cars, trucks, motorcycles, lawn equipment, powered test 12v devices, charged phones, speakers, lights, ran usb fans... small light and reliable with attachments and adapters to connect it up any which way to just about anything. I saw lots of reviews of fake ones being sold on Amazon so I bought direct from their website, hover there for a few minutes and you might get a popup for a welcome discount code.

I had a jump pack that I had to leave on the side of the road last month. Went to jump the kids car and it started flashing and immediately swelled up. No way in hell that thing was going back in the truck.
