I have had a viper remote start and alarm system on my 2014 Tundra, everything was working fine one day, next day I remote started the truck and it run for a few seconds and turned off. I went to an professional installer who said it look like it needed to be reprogram, that did not work so he said it looked like it had lost it brains and he could trouble shoot it at time and materials. $100/hr Since the system was five years old I decided to just invest on a new system. Much to the surprise of the tech and me the new system ( compustar) did exactly the same. after two days the tech told me he had worked with tech support and it seems like the TPMS control module went bad. A new module is close to $500. I lower the air on one of the tires and the TPMS went on on the dash board, air the tire and went off, I dont know if that means the module is good. I may add that someone suggested testing my battery, it turn out battery was putting out 11v and about 65% CC amps. Replaced batt same problem. Sorry for the long thread but I am very confused and frustrated> any help will be much appreciated.

Was this a Toyota tech? If you don't have a tpms light on or a check engine light on the module is fine.

Your tap connections are loose. Soldering are the connections should solve your problem.

Try your keyless entry while the truck is remote started. Hopefully you have enough time to test before it dies. If keyless does not work while remote started, that's another point to something wrong with the TPMS connection or the module itself.

I have nothing of value to add here, sorry, but im curious what the tpms has to do with the remote start??

Wondering if maybe it's some sort of anti theft shutting the car down? Does it start normal afterwards?

Thanks for the reply, as I understand the vehicle immobilizer is tied to the TPMS. But I have heard here that if the TPMS was bad I would have a check engine light on and I do not. This is driving me crazy. I really do not want to replace the TPMS module unless I am sure it is bad as the module is $400+. There are some used ones available but I have had bed luck with used parts so I try to stay away from them.

Don't buy a module. You don't need one and guessing is just wasting money. The proper way to find the problem is to use Techstream to diag.
