Offset & backspacing ... and tire size on stock

Hello. I am wondering how the backspacing and offset allow for larger or restrict for smaller tires on the current Stock tundras.
Im torn on two sizes. Like so many on here, 275-70-18 vs stock 275-65-18.
Im planning on using a 18x9 method 701 with backspacing of 6 and offset of 25+ on a stock tundra.

My question is not exactly what tire can fit(though im looking for that too) with minor mods, but how does the BS and Offset effect the amount of room I have ?

Where does rubbing occur most. What is the worst that can happen on a stock tundra moving into 275-70-18 with 18x9 +25 ?
Will my 25 offset allow for more or less room compared to the stock offroad +60 wheel?

ko2s in the 275-65-18 and wildpeaks 275-70-18 due to recommended width.

 

+25 offset is usually the perfect offset as it allows for a wider wheel without creating too many rubbing issues. A stock tundra will fit 275/70r18 no issues at both a stock offset or a +25 offset. You may have to bend up or trim your skid plate. I had to bend up my skid plate, trim plastic, and remove mud flaps for my 295/70r17 to fit on stock suspension.

 

hey thanks for the quick reply. so your running stock, on a larger wheel then 275-70-18 . basically the same height , but wider. What offset are you running on those 17s?
and when you say no issues , is that just minor trimming? stuff a monkey can do?

 

My offset is +25 as well. I used the trimming directions in the link below. I’m not mechanically inclined and was able to take care of everything with tin snips.

The 65/70 makes tire taller or smaller. I ran 275 70s on stock and +25 stock no rubbing +25 opened up can of worms

 

What kind of can of worms?

 

I'm looking at doing the 275/70r18 with +25 offset. How bad was the rubbing and how much trimming did you need to do after you switched from the stock wheel?

 

Minimal its only in reverese and honestly as tires have worn just a bit not as bad. I have not had time i could unscrew bottom plastic push it back and retap new holes and not rub i say go for it i like the stance + 25 and minimal side splatter

 

What tires did you go with?

 

Duratrac lil noisy but not bad

 

What about 285 or 295/70/18 with a 3/1.5 lift? I'm looking at wheels that are +25 as well as +30. No fender flares and minimal trimming. Will they fit?
