Just got my 2016 crewmax limited. I eventually want to put a 2.5" lift on it, but that's probably a couple years away.

In the meantime, I'd like to upgrade my stock tires with all terrains, possibly a little bigger. Not doing anything crazy, but will be taking it on rutted fire roads in the mountains frequently.

I've read 285 70 r17 tires will fit on stock suspension. If I do this now and add the lift later, will those tires suddenly look too small?
I don't necessarily need the biggest tires I can fit, especially since I want to fit a full size spare under the bed, but I don't want to look like I skipped leg day once I get it lifted.
If I do this I'll probably be swapping out my wheels to Icon Rebounds when I get the tires.

    Any advice would be helpful.

Those tires absolutely will fit, they were the stock tire size on the RW pkg. I feared the same with my truck. I knew I had about 2ish years left on my tires and went with Bilsteins on middle setting and Toytec shackles in the back. I kind of noticed it but it wasn't as you described like "I skipped leg day". I now have 285/75r17 and it def fills the wheel well better.

    285/70r17 = 32.7"x11.2"
    285/75r17 = 33.8"x11.2"
295/70r17 = 33.3"x11.6" I don't know the style of tire you are wanting or if you are dead set on a brand, but the 295/70 may be a happy medium that would fit stock. May have some slight rubbing on the front mud flap but that would be an easy fix. In the end it would also still look beefy when you put the lift on. It also wont throw your gear ratio off near as much, therefore your speedo and odo will still be fairly accurate.

Thanks for the reply. I’m leaning towards KO2’s or General Grabber ATX’s if I pick a size available in either of those.
Did you fit a full size spare under the bed with the 285/75’s?

    285/70r17 = 33.8"x11.2"

    This one should be 285/75
