    Just things to protect it...
Greetings! I only took delivery of my truck yesterday and this site has already been so helpful - thank you. In time I hope I'm able to make contributions of my own.

Since high school I was a diesel engine fanatic and even did a stint working in materials planning at the Cummins midrange plant in Walesboro that makes the Dodge diesel. I drove a 2002 Ram 2500 diesel for a bit and recently picked up a 1996 Ram 2500 12-valve diesel that only had 65,000 original miles on it. Ended up letting someone else enjoy that one after a year of fun - it just didn't fit my family needs.

Speaking of family, I'd been looking for a truck that not only comfortably hauled my family but also fit in my puny suburban garage (233" wall to door). That narrowed it down to ONE truck. I honestly hadn't paid a lot of attention to Tundras - except for when it was rumored the V-6 Cummins would end up in one. But the more I read, the more I knew that this last year of the 3rd gen was the perfect truck for me.

I wasn't interested in the Trail Edition but when I saw one in transit to my preferred dealer, the time felt right. I don't know how much I'll use the storage bins in the bed, but I do like the wheels, the grill, and the blacked-out emblems. Like most people, I wish Toyota had included the LED headlights...but I can add those later.

Everything I've read on this forum so far has seemed fairly kind and cordial - I salute you all for maintaining a positive atmosphere when so many online spaces seems to thrive on discord and negativity.

Here's my new baby. So far, I'm doing the following:

    1. the new style Weathertech mats
    2. Agricover tonneau
    3. Covercraft dash cover and seat covers
    4. Llumar Platinum paint protection film on front and hood
    5. Krown rust treatment as this will be my daily driver year round
    6. Toyota Predator steps

The only other thing on my short list is to replace the factory shocks. I'm sure I can find information using the search function, but I'm wondering if the TRD Pro shocks from Fox are direct-fit?

    Thanks everyone!

Oof! Those ARE crazy expensive! Might stick to the TRD Off-Road Bilsteins... Thanks for the link!

Look into Bilstein 6112 for front and 5160 for rear. Great combo/upgrade for the $$$

I appreciate the advice! I had the Huskies in my Dodge and liked them, but I really like the material the newest Weathertechs are made from - I wanted to give them a try. I might be back to Husky in the end.

    Welcome, OP!

Here’s the way I see it:

Initial purchase price of TRD Fox kit —

Having an OEM setup and not needing to also purchase aftermarket UCAs and wheels to clear them —

Welcome John and congrats on the new truck. Great choice! I agree that this forum is positive and supportive. One of the reasons I frequent. I learn a ton, and if I have a question about my Tundra, somebody here has an answer(s) that helps me get to a solution.

I definitely like the idea of an OEM setup! I think for my purposes, the TRD Off-Road Bilsteins will probably be more than enough. Those Fox shocks are just sooooo sexy!
