Just bought a new-to-me 2018 Tundra TSS off-road 4x4 a week ago. Today was the first day I've been able to drive it without using 4 wheel drive. There's all this frozen crap everywhere...not used to that here!

I'm a Tundra convert from a 2003 Tacoma SR5 TRD. My poor baby's transmission is starting to go.

Anyways, hi to everyone! Be prepared for dumb questions from me...

Welcome from Waxahachie, TX! I used to have a 2003 TRD Tacoma. Loved that little truck. It could go anywhere and was the most reliable, dependable vehicle I ever had. Sadly, it wouldn’t properly fit my boy’s toddler seats so I sold it to finance my Tundra.

You're not kidding about the tacoma going anywhere! I still have it. Debating if I should get it fixed and sell it or keep it or just sell it as is. It just keeps going into limp mode at random times.

Lol, yeah...it was the best I could come up with at the time. Shows my high level of creativeness, ha! Before I joined, I poked around A LOT looking for some answers while searching for wheel locks, tonneau covers and that clear stuff they stick to the front part of the hood to prevent rock chips. (Still looking for the last one!)

Looks like you've had yours out on the beach - how do these handle in the fluffy sand? I'm so used to my tacoma just kind of floating over top of eveything. This is my first 'grown up' truck.

The clear stuff is PPF( paint protective film). Its a vinyl like material that usually lasts about 5 years +/- depending on application and/or upkeep. It's pretty useful stuff for sure.

Thanks! Sooo ummm, how does one go about getting that on one's truck? Seriously though, should I take it to the dealer and have it done the right way? I have to take it in soon to have one of the rear tires replaced. It had a gash in the sidewall, not deep enough to potentially bubble out, but annoying enough that I made them comp me a new KO2. So once that comes in, they'll put it on.

Edit: I just bought a 6"x72" roll on Amazon...

You can. They'll prob sub it out to another shop that does it like ours does. Vinyl wrap shops, paint shops, etc can prob do it and prob cheaper. But it wouldn't hurt to call and get a quote from them and who will be doing the work

I'll do that. Plus, I'm going to try to do it myself and hope it turns out alright. Probably one of the only 'mods' I can do myself. I have close to zero knowledge when it comes to automotive repair/customization. The thought of putting my own lift kit on makes me shudder!
