    Hi everyone,
Here is my first Post. I found this Forum while looking for information on programing both Keys and Fob's for my Truck. I just got this 2010 and it one has one key and a non-working FOB.

I tried the the YouTube videos on "how to open your door and put in the key with out turning it on" But I was unable to get into program mode (door locks did nothing). I then read about Tech Stream and that got me here. Having read what I could find I though it was time to ask experts .... You.

I think I need Tech Steam version 10.10.018 for my year truck. I have a laptop running Win 7. Where can I get a Safe copy of the Software? I have a cable ordered form Amazon that should be here this week.

I think 2010 much have been a crossover year for keys. I have a "Dot" key but I see that some trucks use a "G" key. I am not sure what that has to do with the programing of the FOB but at this point I am at a loss.

I could use your help. The dealer wants to pay his mortgage by making me a key and FOB so please any help would be Great.

Welcome from the wet side of WA.

The “dot” vs ”G” on the keys has to do with the transponder in the key for the engine immobilizer. If you want to get more keys, make sure to get them with the same symbol. From there, you can have them cut anywhere that can actually cut that blank, and then Techstream can program the truck to accept the new transponder chip.

on the fob - have you checked the battery? There’s small gap along the side you can use to pry it open with a key and there’s a replaceable battery inside that likely is dead of has never been replaced. Ordering replacement fobs you need to get one with the same FCC ID info - there are different ones on eBay, etc. But you want to be sure you’re getting the right one to start, so I’d first try to get your existing one confirmed as working or dead. Then, programming news ones can be done with techstream.

finally, on your Techstream question... I’ll PM you. You don’t NEED windows 7, but getting it working on 64-bit Win 10 does require a little more computer savy...

    Hi RainMan_PNW,
I wanted to let you know that I was unable to use the techStream file I got from you. When I tested the files with Virus Total it showed 9 cases of malware. I wanted to let you know so you can check your computer for problems. I am sure you did not send this knowing there was a problem but hopeful now that we know we can fix this.

If anyone knows where I can get a clean copy of TechStream Ver 10.10.018 please let let me know

Thanks to RainMan_PNW and everyone else for your help

Just a heads up. Anyone with a good scanner can program these. I can do them with my $500 autel. The very expensive snap on at work does it also.

I have never had any issues with it - most of these copies out there aren’t “legit” and thus throw false positives. I also only have it installed on an old tablet computer that I don’t have anything else installed on, so there isn’t anything it could get to even if it was malicious. But I’ve been using it since around 2012 without any problems...

Otherwise, as @Gto7419 said, most shops that have a quality scanner software should be able to program it (though they may charge a fee to do so).

Again I am thankful for your help. I think I may have an older laptop I could use like you did.

In the mean time: I got one of those orange key programmers off eBay that comes with 2 keys for $50. Things never go as planned. I was able to program the new keys but lost the program on my first working key. I then programed that key only to loose the program on the new keys.

In all cases I still can not program the any of the F.O.B.s to work the door looks.

So I guess I am going to try the Techstream software and see where that takes me.

    Again thanks for you help.

    Stay Safe...

Up Date on programing Keys and F.O.B's

I thought it best to include an update on this post for others may get for help if they have the sane needs.

Basically: I took two approaches to solving the programing of Keys and FOB;s for my 2010 Tundra. The first was to try and get a working copy of TechStream so I could not only program keys/fob's but also adjust other features on my truck. The other approach was to buy a used Autel MX808 scanner. This tool lets me program Keys/FOB's and also a lot of other things.

Autel MX808: I got this off eBay for less than the dealer wanted to just make a key so I figured I would be ahead of the game. It worked fine and was easy to figure out. I had 2 keys and 3 FOB's programed in about an hour. The only down side was for some reason I can only program 2 keys. I wanted to have 3 so I could have the a backup set that my wife did not know about. (Long Story, you really do not want to know) I am not sure why I can not program the third key but when I do one of the other keys stops working. So I will need to figure out why. This leads me into the other approach.

TechStream: Boy can this be a long road with many turns. Thanks to RainMan_PNW I have a copy of 10.XXX.XX Techstream. He was helpful to include a step by step guide on loading this software on a Win 10 PC. But I was able to lay my hands on a brand new Toshiba Laptop running Windows 7, 32bit. This computer is 6-7 years old but was never use. So I going to try to install Techstream there. I also have the cable I got off Amazon that came with a copy of Techstream Ver 15 ( or so it says) I have no plans on putting this laptop on the internet so I am think I will be ok avoiding malware. I will have to update this post again once I get this laptop running.

More to come... Thanks for all your help and I would be glad for your input.

I just got my Autel OBD reader working for my 2007. But I can’t seem to find how or where.
Got any ideas to help me? I’ve only got one key. I’ve got two new keys and two new fobs I would
    like to program.

As soon as my fobs and cable arrive, I’m about to attempt the same thing on my 2007 (apart from needing 3 keys...haha)
    Using Techstream.

Im going to need some guidance. Is anyone game?

I'm watching this thread now (wasn't before). @Cburg I'm hoping that extra info I sent today helped in getting it up and running. If not, reach back out via PM/conversation and let's see what we can do to sort it out.
@Cruiserpilot - I've got no experience with the Autel. Sorry.
@pkgdout - I see you tried to PM me, but didn't see anything in the actual message. More than happy to try and help once you've got the stuff in hand, if I'm free. It's been a while since I did my keys and fob in my 2008 (which I no longer have). But I might still be able to fumble my way into/through it.

I am making headway... I have gotten past the reg page but now It will not connect to the truck. I am getting a "VIM error" I tried to pick the VIM but only one shows up. I thought I had this setup (but I guess Not). I did go into the device manager and then pluged in the cable. When it showed up I tried to update the drives by pointing to Xhorse. It said it was updated. I must be doing something wrong but I do not know what ....

    Any Thoughts .....
