Hi all, Thought id share a recent build for anyone interested. i recently had a baby and the new addition to the family is taking up valuable bed space while going camping. i wanted to be able to store things above the bed while utilizing the tonneau to keep things dry inside the bed. total cost was $190 including hardware, unistrut, basket and side brackets. i had a local metal shop bend the side brackets. everything was drilled and bolted for easy removal instead of welding. these pics were pre-paint, all i did was degrease, prime and rattle can flat black. to attach the front rail i used the backrack stud, to attach the rear i stacked up some 1/2 in rubber to raise it level with the backrack and made an L shaped bracket by bending some threaded rod which goes through the stake pocket and out into the bed using a stock hole. while traveling to go camping the main things going up on the rack is a bin full of firewood and the cooler (+-70lbs) leaving room in the bed for a stroller and other baby crap lol. feedback is encouraged, always looking for improvements!! Enjoy!IMG-3888.jpg IMG-3889.jpg IMG-3890.jpg IMG-3891.jpg IMG-3892.jpg IMG-3893.jpg IMG-3894.jpg IMG-3895.jpg IMG-3896.jpg IMG-3897.jpg IMG-3898.jpg IMG-3899.jpg IMG-3900.jpg

This is awesome. This is what I have been looking for. I need the extra room for vacations. It doesn't have to support a ton of weight but I can put kid stuff up there and keep my bed covered with my revolver X4. Looks like it's easy to take off when you don't need it. I may have to pm you for some pointers.

Funny enough I’m looking to do this exact thing. Looks like I even have the same tonneau cover too.

This is really nice. I love DIY projects. I’m wanting to make one that attaches to the bed rail. Now I just need to find someone to bend the rails on the side. Great job.

Going to use unistrut but I think I may use these for the stake pockets.

FYI on those mounts from Magnum - per a conversation I had with them, those mounts are only for the front stake pockets, you'll need to come up with something else for the rears.

I have a similar project going, and may try the lower portion of this set from Bullring as anchors, or may try and fab something similar myself.

Thanks for the info. Glad I didn't buy them yet. I may just buy the ADARAC M series. $379 is more than I want to spend but it would save me time and I'm sure it will work as designed.
