Looking for some thoughts on a portable camp stove for camping out of the Tundra.
Don't wanna break the bank, but don't wan't junk.
    Only cook for 2 people.
No fancy fancy meals requiring long simmers, or searing etc. just basic cooks.
Not gonna be in extreme cold, or weather.
Not looking to go minimalist, and don't wanna lug around a big 5 gallon propane tank set-up either.
Saw this one, and it seems to check the right boxes.

    What say You ?
    TIA.

I’d look for temperature control over max btu. My camp chef summit is a little too strong. I think their newer aluminum model
Looks legit though I’ll find it.

I have a coleman 2 burner stove. It works great for just 1-2 people. I've used it for more people, but you're cooking longer as it has its limits. But it works in a pinch. I also bought a grill plate to go over the burners to do pancakes, eggs, sandwiches, ect without needing a pan. Also works better than 2 pans if needing more cooking room as 2 10" pans on it seems to be almost too much for it.

Coleman would be my first choice as well. We have one with one burner and a grill, which was the perfect combo for us when we were camping out of the Corolla and had limited space. Now that we have the Tundra, I'll probably go with a two burner stove plus a portable BBQ.

Probably a little too big but I have the 22inch Blackstone and I absolutely love it. I use it as my main outdoor cooker at home too. My buddy got the 17in just for camping and he loves it too.

Depending on the footprint you are good with, I would go Camp chef for full size or Jet Boil Genesis like I did for a compact unit. Issue with the Jet Boil is that you will need to construct a wind block on windy days....or all the time.
Edit: I have a Colman...it's very weak compared to the Jet Boil

The lodge is a little heavy for me I had one and sold it. I got the camp chef steel griddle and love it. Light weight and even heat, only complaint is it needs a grease channel. I need a bag for it to toss in the bottom of my chuck box too.44EBA54D-3A34-406D-A218-B588914C494D.jpg

You guys are fancy with those stoves! I have an old single burner but plan to upgrade to a 2 burner Coleman, the $45 one posted above.

Well... I’d say enthusiastic about camping! Not necessarily fancy. How’s the temperature control on the Coleman 2-burner? I would say the summit camp chef I have is almost too strong. Would love more low to medium temperature control. I mean if I’m cooking a steak or hot dogs I want it to be right :)

Coleman Grill/Griddle with a single burner. Although, you can use the grill side to cook stuff in a pan if needed. We've had this thing for years and it's never missed a beat.

That's the exact one we have. Even the self lighter still works.

My buddy got this one and likes it. I have been using the old tried and true Coleman 2 burner for 20+ years. Not pretty, not light, but has never failed me. GSI has great customer service FWIW. I use many of their hiking, backpacking items and like the brand.

The old classic green Coleman has my vote as well. I have a 3 burner model. Two medium pans and a percolator fit on it nicely. I made an adapter hose so I don't have to use those little 1lb bottles anymore, I can connect right to a big 10lb or 20lb tank.

Another vote 2 burner green Coleman, check used ads, got mine for $25. I also refill 1lb tanks from 20lb’ers using adapter. Freeze the 1lb’ers first before filling. Check for leaks with soap bubbles periodically.

They also sell dual fuel single burner butane stoves, use propane with them.

That's the one I ordered too. It arrived a couple days ago. Looks good to go.
I just picked up a couple small propane bottles for it, but haven't fired it up yet.
I happened to have a decent size cooler bag that it just fits in for protection.

I use and have always used a white gas Coleman two burner stove for car camping. Cheap fuel that lasts a long time before going bad. So +17:notsure: for the Coleman suggestion.

Also, the white gas may double as a weapon for the zombie apocalypse. :quickdraw:

I remember white gas being a pain in the ass when I was in Scouts but I can't remember why exactly.

Cool! Let me know how you like it once you use. I’m hoping to use mine this weekend if I’m able. Funny you mention the small propane bottles. They were all sold out at the local Academy and at REI when I last checked. Didn’t know there was a run on propane bottles!

Me neither ! I was at a tackle store and the rod wrapper there mentioned there was a shortage on the small propane bottles. I did find some at Ace Hardware.
He also said something about there being a move to push them over to alcohol since it's cleaner burning. I could insert a political zinger here, but I've been told it's highly frowned upon on this site and will get me the boot pronto. So I'll keep my trap shut.
