    Hi all!

I'm getting my new wheels installed in a week. I'm running 17" wheels with 35/12.5/17 KO2s with 2.5 Kings front and back with 3/4 Shackels. I was thinking of getting wheel locks or Spline Lug nuts. My install shop said I don't need them. They said it's going to be hard to steal my wheels because first, wheels are heavy and big. Second, the height of the truck. They also said, if they want them they will get them.

What do you guys think? Does anyone run wheel locks on 35s?

You’re more likely to get stranded with a flat because you either broke the wheel lock or misplaced the key than getting your wheels stolen.

Well I’m pretty sure OP with his new 2020 TRD Sport doesn’t live in the ghetto.

If you happen to forget/misplace your lock always keep a socket that is just a wee bit smaller than the lock. You can pound it on and take off the lock.

    Thieves know that trick too.

I just crossthread my lug nuts and then trade the truck in when the tires go bald.

I mean, you're not wrong. I live in North Orange County hills in SoCal. However, I do travel to the somewhat ghetto and ghetto people come up here to steal stuff. Every city has a ghetto hahaha.

Get unique spline lugs, that way they all lock.

Sure they can still steal them, but at least you tried or slowed them down.

Get Spline and a 2 way Viper Alarm. And a Glock, shoots even when dirty. Can't stop a Glock :fenforcer:

If they want them they’re going to steal them. I noticed a lot of times the more effort you put in to stop it the more they damage your vehicle trying to steal it. Would it be better to find your truck on blocks or find your truck on blocks with all the hubs broke?

If they want them they will get them.
They will just take the whole truck and strip it down.

perhaps it might be helpful to consider that wheel thieves and wheel salesmen both benefit from no wheel locks

I hear you. Of course there’s always a slim chance. All I’m saying is there’s a higher chance the locks will cause some problem of some kind. I’ve seen many issues with wheel locks, but I’ve never heard of wheels getting stolen off a lifted tundra. It takes a lot of work to steal 35’s off a lifted truck and thieves will generally go for something much easier. And like people said, if the thieves want them, they’re going to get them whether it has locks or not. The locks will just add 30 seconds to pound in a socket. On top of that, it’s not easy for them to sell stolen Tundra specific wheels. Now if I had some Volk wheels on my truck? I’d probably run 5 different wheel locks. :D

    I'm with joonbug.

Now. If you're still gonna go and "thief proof" your wheels then don't forget to thief proof your gasoline cap and flap door. And what is your plan to thief proof your catalytic converter?

This is the only acceptable answer. Cross thread, three solid ugga duggas from an impact and never think about it again.
