Maybe an obvious answer to this question but I'll ask anyway.

How's your experience with a Black Tundra? I've had a black car before and no matter how many times I washed it the car was a dust magnet and never looked clean, I wonder if this was just my specific car is this the same outcome with all black cars?.

Thank you, & forgive my noobish question.

Years ago my brother bought a black truck and had the same experiences with dust and dirt you mentioned here . . .
I think it goes with the territory.

I have no issues. The dirt clings perfect and every once in a while I wash it.

I'm with @fundra_goes_west once you get that base layer of grime, the rest doesn't even matter.

Looks like a beautiful truck in your profile picture. I had a Black lexus and for some reason it was covered in dust as soon as I washed it. Maybe the paint used by Toyota for the Tundra is different.

I’ve owned 3 black vehicles. Dust is a given especially when you get up closer. But if you love the color, you love the color. Don’t fight it.

I've had 2 black trucks and it doesn't work with my personality. Let your experience be your guide.

Black trucks have taught me many lessons, and when I see a clean one with no swirls, I have immediate respect for the owner.

I've read this quote a few times on the internet: "black isn't a color, it's a lifestyle". But the dust happens to the best of us... It sucks, but for those 10 seconds or less, it looks amazing! :hattip:

What bothers me, are the greasy fingerprints RIGHT after it's detailed... courtesy of family members...o_O

I’m just messing around. I have pinstripes all over my truck. For me the adventure is worth a dirty/scratches truck, I don’t really care.

echoing what everyone else said, its a bitch to keep clean but when it is... also minor scratches and such will tend to show more often imo if youre an off roader

I didn't mind keeping my black Tundra clean until I got my cement one and saw how much easier it is to keep looking good. Got quite a few hours a month back.

I recommend everyone get a black truck. I never knew squat about detailing before I got one. Now I have my name on the “Ask the Detailer” thread....

I park my truck in the garage, and have found after it sets and gets dusty I just grab my "All Purpose Duster" and give it a quick once over and it looks quite good again. However it only works with dry dust, if its been wet at all doesn't work.

For me the worst is how easily marks show, went hunting recently and on some narrow trails through the woods ended up with some scuff/scratch marks from branches on the sides. I think most would come out with proper technique but I'm afraid I'll just cause different paint finish problems.

But the bottom line, I bought it to use it, not a show truck. But still is rather disappointing to see this.

rather than starting a new thread I’m hoping this will help!
Got some pinstripes recently as a result of using my black truck like a truck and as much as I try to embrace it, I really really like a clean truck... any thoughts on how to remove some “adventure marks”?
Hoping @War Machine or other detail enthusiasts have some tips for a black truck owner.

Depending on the severity and amount, there will be different methods. Small isolated areas, you can try some Meguair’s ScratchX or another all in one by hand. It works well for limited areas with light damage.

If it’s a lot of it or a large area you’ll need to use a DA polisher. If you’re inclined and want to be able to do it yourself, there’s a good bit of recommendations around her on what to buy. If not, you can pay a professional detailer to do it.
Having a professional detailer do it will probably run about the same cost as it would be to buy the equipment and supplies yourself. It’s really a matter of whether you want to make the effort yourself and if you’ll want to do it again in the future or do your other vehicles.
Basic rule of thumb is that if you can catch the scratch with your fingernail, you won’t be able to polish it out.

I will say that with a black truck, you’re just going to have to learn to live with a certain amount of scratches and imperfections. I’m as careful as someone could possibly be, and still have microscratches and imperfections in mine. Now, I’m the only one who notices them unless I point them out, but they’re definitely there and anyone who’s into detailing would certainly see it.
