Ran to Home Depot today to pick up some mounting plates for my MicTuning rock lights (8 piece). These lights are meant for under body. I have another 8 piece kit for the wheel wells.

bending the mounting plates, drilling holes for light mounting and install took about an hour or less. Had to create my own wiring harness again because I will be running two sets of lights off one switch.

Not going to place them under the truck till it’s dark and I ran power. Want to maximize the available light for each piece. Another weekend project I’m assuming.

Chewed wiring is not a Warranty item unfortunately.

It is confirmed, hence why I posted the last reply that the dealer only had the truck for 2 days before I bought it. It is a no win battle and not worth fighting imo. I had the truck for 3 weeks without issue. Now it throws codes immediately after clearing them. Pretty much no way it could have been chewed on the dealers lot.

    Thanks,
    Kirk

OP...I would think with the truck having that low of miles, Toyota NEEDS to prove that it didn't happen on there dealership lot. That kind of damage doesn't happen that fast. The amount of mice needed to cause that much damage that fast would have to be a large family of mice. Just saying, I would fight that invoice. It just doesn't make sense, unless your truck was sitting at your house not moving in a field of tall grass.

I tend to differ on that. The damage could have happened at the factory, or sitting on the transport truck, or still at the dealership lot. Why i would check the manufactures date of vehicle when it left the factory, arrived at the dealership and then sold. Still, should be covered. Still not enough proof indicating it happened in the OP's possesion with minimal miles on the vehicle.

We'll just have to agree to disagree. The damage clearly happened at my place and it happened in one night. Luckily for me, the whole $5500 was bs laziness on the Tech's part. The manifold was removed today and three sensor pigtails are chewed clean off of the knock sensor sub harness there is no damage to the main harness. $800 repair vs a $5500 one. I informed the dealer about Honda's hot pepper tape to prevent the chewing and they are ordering a roll and will wrap the entire harness before installing the new one.

Today I slapped on the Factor 55 tow hook. I was hesitant on the color but figured WTH, wanted the front to pop a lil.Tundra2.jpg Tundra2.jpg Tundra.jpg

It should just look for it automatically every time you drive. Takes a few minutes and distance for the ECU to read the positions and values of each sensor.

One thing that I've learnt after doing this a few times on my truck is that it seems to have a mind of its own how long it takes to register the TPMS IDs in the ECUs and set the new values. It does its own thing and works when you least expect it. I say once you enter it into the proper mode, just drive it and let it do its own thing.

The capsaicin is impregnated in the tape, it's not a smell thing it's a taste thing. I'd imagine it lasts quite a while just like the glue on the tape does. It was created as a solution to Honda's lawsuit they faced for using rodent attracting soy based wiring. At any rate, it's got to be better than nothing at all. For the record I have a can of rodent repellent (essential oils, peppermint, clove etc) that is supposed to help keep them away and I hit the engine with it all around twice in the three weeks I had it. I live in the country and there are tons of ground squirrels and rats running rampant out here. I have had neighbor's whose cars were eaten, so I have been on the lookout/rodent warpath.

Just an update, they didn't care. I told them upfront and the guy doing the write-up said a few of their techs have skids on their vehicles and could remove them if needed. I took a look under it before leaving and they didn't look like they had to take them off.

They are working out great! I will be interested to see how it goes after this vortex passes us. The passenger side has about 1/2" of solid ice on it.
