I almost went with the Ironmax 4x4 kit myself. It's very high quality hardware from all the research i did. I went with OME because i found a nice deal, plus their reputation helps. I'm very much a low maintenance "set it and forget it" type too. Can totally understand waiting though, looks like you've already put some serious coin into your build!

Drove 10 miles in 4x4 today like the manual says. Also assembled a little power box using the Yeti 400 and another 33 ah battery. Just trying to figure out the wire run for the solar panel now. I may cut a hole in the front of this crate for better access and view to the display...

    IMG_20200616_133322573.jpg

Equipt thought I had an older tent so they sent me the wrong mounting feet for the solar panel. Have the right ones on the way so will be able to get the solar panel mounted once they arrive. Despite the mistake, which is no big deal and happens, Equipt is so nice to work with. Great people there...mount not working...

    IMG_20200615_131614748_HDR.jpg
An finally, the tent does not stick out far enough on the side. When the ladder to get in is mounted it is very close to the truck bed. I actually very slightly dimpled the bed last time I camped:facepalm:. So built a little offset block out of a 4x4 post using the stock ladder mounts for the tent. It's been raining so have not tested it. Hopefully this gives the added clearance needed.

    IMG_20200616_140223845_HDR.jpg

EDIT: the 4x4 block offset worked pretty good, may add a 2x4 to it so it gives a little more clearance.

Had a great time camping and riding dirt bikes for a few days with some friends this past weekend. Perfect weather and conditions. Love the setup and with the additional battery on the Yeti it worked well. It powered the fridge and everything the whole time and still had 60% left when I got home. I think once the solar panel gets sorted it's going to be great. Anyway had a blast.

Finally got the awning shipped in and installed it today. Very nice! Also got the awning room with it and can't wait to try it all out. Of course it's raining at the moment so must be patient. With the RCI mounts it does flop around a bit by hand but we will see later how it looks while driving.

Picked up some used stock aluminum rims from a good guy off Craigslist. Debated on powder coating and decided not to since I'm not blacking out the chrome. But ordered black lug nuts from Gorilla. A big improvement in looks IMO and feels like the new setup is way lighter than the steel rims.

Looks great. How do you like that awning? Haven't seen anyone else run it here.

I love it and it has some features ARB and others don't have. It has polymer/rubber on the pivot points so they will take more abuse than the plastics on the ARB. Powder coated arms. It also has a built in led strip that plugs into a 12V socket. And...it was significantly cheaper than the ARB cuz I bought it on sale. I bought the room also and all of it was under $400. Go to IronMan and see if the sale is still on.

    https://ironman4x4america.com/

EDIT: it is. $199 for the awning 2Mx2.5M only and so worth it. An $199 for the room. I think I got an additional 10% discount with a sale they had going on. Just an incredible deal.

Changed the oil today. Have lifetime 10000 mile oil changes from the dealer but thought I needed to get the factory shavings out of the motor. Changed at 5,463 miles. Also, started the solar system project.

Got the RCI Metalworks bike rack mounted to the bed rack. Will find a way to mount the bike forward so I can open the tent without having to take the bike off. IMG_20201023_125727094_HDR.jpg IMG_20201023_125542841_HDR.jpg

It's been a long road with some head scratching involved but the solar system is finally in and functioning.

Renogy 160w panel mounted to the Blade using K9 mounts.

    IMG_20201116_123943695_HDR.jpg

-Renogy Rover Li 20A charge controller- Thanks @smslavin
-Battle Born 100Ah lithium battery grounded to the chassis
-Blue Sea fuse block, 100A circuit breaker, and two 12 V plugs in a panel on the outside of the Noco battery box. These will power the tent and the lights in the awning.

    IMG_20201115_224525126.jpg

    IMG_20201117_153753565.jpg

Mounted it to the truck using shiplap and Rago Fab mounts. Mounted the Renogy bluetooth monitor to them also. Only thing left to do is run wires to the cab for the fridge and a few other things. Maybe some bed lights. Real happy with how this turned out.

Got the power point for the fridge ran. Decided to use the junk yard seat bracket. Turned out perfectly. Used an outdoor high quality 10 gauge wired extension cord to run power into the cab. Easy to work with and extremely durable.

Finished wiring up the Baja Designs dome light for the truck bed.

    IMG_20201127_140507057.jpg

This thing is pretty bright during the day. Can't wait to test it out at night.

    IMG_20201127_140521946.jpg

Fridge has been on for two days straight now and one day was cloudy. The solar seems to be keeping the battery up very well. Guess I did the math right which is amazing actually. Anyway very happy with how this project turned out.

Finally started on the Rago dash plate. Very happy with it. I used the ICS Fan backing plate and followed what others did in the "Rago dash plate" thread.

    IMG_20210215_173355630.jpg

Going to mount the ICS Fan USB plug probably like this with dbl sided tape for now.

    IMG_20210215_173559142.jpg

Just need to finish wiring it up. Ran out of daylight. This is a great mod.

After crawling around on the ground for a few hours I didn't take any pics...but finally installed the trans cooler kit from Chris.

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/tundra-transmission-cooler-kit.60550/

This kit is top notch. Here are some before and after temps. Very happy to have this in as I felt the temps on basically an empty truck were definitely not ideal.

Just got back from a great trip to Daytona Bike Week 2021. Spent nine nights in the tent and slept like a baby.
The weather was incredible. The Solar system kept the battery completely charged the whole time, never saw the battery below 100%. Real happy with that system.

    IMG_20210311_100814799_HDR.jpg

The truck did well towing and carrying all our crap down. Highest trans temps I saw was 206 when really pushing it, but it mainly stayed below 200. So glad I put the trans cooler on it. Passed 10,000 miles so need an oil change. Wish I didn't have to come back.

    Houston we have a problem!

    IMG_20210315_123847248_HDR.jpg

Fan was making a weird noise so investigated. Is the three pieces of dog food a factory option?

This is the top view and I have clue how that little bastard got into that area. Could not find any other effected areas. Will have to find a way to address this. Needless to say the fan noise is gone:thumbsup:

Yeah I hope that never happens but have heard about that. Will just use insurance if it does. I put a the charcoal replacement filter from the landcruiser in there as a replacement. Hopefully that stops this.

What is this charcoal filter you speak of? I am assuming you are talking about the cabin air filter.

Yes the cabin air filter. Turns out the cabin air filters in the lexus are charcoal impregnated and it's supposed to help lessen odors coming in from the outside. So I searched an got some cheaper ones (in price, not quality) from Wix on Amazon.

Great to know, Thanks for sharing. I have mice issue around my home, but i also have several cats around my home also. I usually see the mice dead all around the yard, so the cats are doing there job. I feed them as a reward for keeping the mice away. I have 2 cats that i keep in the house, to keep the mice out of the house. But so far no mice in the vehicles, but i am going to look into the charcoal filter, great idea.

    Thanks

Installed the RCI Metalworks fuel skid today. Had to replace all the fuel tank straps with the factory Toyota straps that come on the trucks with skid plates. There were no instructions so I called RCI and as usual they provided excellent customer service.

So really the only "hard" part was driving around "for-eva" until the tank was below a quarter tank. Otherwise it's difficult to get the skid and straps on because the tank bulges too much with more gas in it. Did one strap at a time and done.
Very happy to have this on because of how exposed the 38 gal tank is. Well worth the money.

Installed the Lux lighting LEDs today. Very impressed with these. Magnetic mount so no drilling. Stuck them here...

    IMG_20210429_165352301.jpg

Ran the wires out here and then down the hood hinge to the front of the truck...

    IMG_20210429_165304455.jpg

    IMG_20210429_165319228.jpg

Paid for their install kit which comes with a nice switch and mounts using 3M dbl sided tape. Mounted the switch in a convenient location, left a little slack of wire, and sealed the connections.

    IMG_20210429_165332357.jpg

These are going to be plenty bright enough.
