That's some skilled driving. Wonder how many takes it was based on all the marks on the pavement prior to each scene.

Quite a few it seems, lots of rubber removal payments included in the budget I would imagine.

This machine you worry about was hand built for this exact purpose, that's why talented people build such amazing things.

He is a professional driver on a closed course. How is he an idiot? He is extremely talented. I wouldn't (and couldn't) do that in my personal car but if I was getting paid to do it in a purpose built race car, count me in.

ken is a nice guy and definitely not an idiot. bit of a bro dude but nice. met him a couple of times through some of my Surfer Magazine contacts (when i was a freelancer) before he sold DC Shoes. those days were wild.

he built something from scratch. sold it. built something else from scratch and became a fairly talented driver. now, he gets to build incredible machines that perform a very specific job then he gets to play like 9 year old me and my hot wheels. i know very very few people that can make those kinds of opportunities happen. kudos all day long from me for that.

for an inside look at what it takes to make the gymkhana films, i highly recommend watching 'the gymkhana files' on Amazon.

while he may no longer be racing, it is a business. he is getting paid and there is a budget for the films that he has to adhere to. he isn't out randomly trying to blow an engine or wreck a car. when he does break something, he beats himself up about it as he knows there is a cost associated with it. the simple fact that he can close down downtown LA or London or Detroit or any of the other cities they have used speaks volumes.

not trying to argue just trying to make a point that this is his job and while it looks insane, it is very from that. he takes it just as seriously as when he was racing full time.

His gymkhana videos are getting worse and worse I think. They started out pretty cool but it’s just more of the same old stuff now. These vehicles are made for high RPM, anti-lag turbo systems and it’s no harder on the vehicle than hauling your loaded TT down the freeway behind your truck hitting bumps and pot holes.
He did decent when he raced in WRC as well.
People pay to see (ads) him and others like Pastrana n Nitro Circus do crazy stuff and that’s what pays the bills sometimes.
Lastly I think it’s all jealousy that, like it was said before, he gets to ‘play’ for work while you/we all work hard for our money but there is no denying the talent he has.

Being able to make Mucho money at something you enjoy sounds like the American dream to me. Just because he shits money, doesn't mean anything comes out of your pocket, you must be thinking of our Government...:monocle:

I know Ford is a 4-letter word in these parts, but Ken's Mustang and F100 are freaking awesome! Bad ass performance in a couple of classic rides.
