You’re lucky IMO that the KO2 is not in stock. They are severely overrated.
I’m running the Toyos after having numerous sets of KO2 and so far they are vastly superior.

I think those are both good tires. KO2s are overpriced and from my mechanic "not made like they used to be". He likes the Wildpeaks and General Grabbers. But I think the two you narrowed down to are really good

Recommend looking into Falken AT3W Wilpeaks tires. A favorite of a lot of folks. This and the Toyo III's were my top choices after much research. I discarded the KO2s and Nitto's for my my use.

Have the AT3 on our 4runner and really like them at about 10k miles so far. Had Ridge Grapplers on my previous Tundra they were meh, everybody seems to buy them for their looks and also because everyone is buying them. They weren't bad but at half worn the RG got slick I'm running Trail Grapplers now and if I don't get another set of them when the time comes I'll put on the AT3.

Another popular option is the Cooper AT3 XLTs. I switched to these from KO2s. Not planning on going back to KO2s.

This is what I went with. Nothing else to compare it to, first truck, first set of real tires

Snow rated. Aggressive tread. Tread warranty. In stock (even had rebate).

Go with the Toyo’s. I had the RG’s on my last truck. I know they’re very popular but I was not impressed.

AT III lighter than the RG pretty significantly in that size. Something to think about

Currently running 305/65-18 KO2s that need replacement. I don’t hate them but they haven’t impressed me enough to buy again. I’ll mostly likely be going with the Toyos in 295/70-18 next month. The Cooper AT3 XLT are also a close second

If there’s any chance you might drive in snow, go for the Toyos- they are 3PMSF rated. Mine have been excellent here in MN.

I don’t think the Nittos are snow rated but some have said they’re ok in the white stuff, YMMV.

I went from the ridge grappler to the Toyo at3 and prefer the Toyo. The RG did ok but got noisy at 20k miles and gets progressively louder from there. They got so loud that I dumped them early

Previously had Nitto RG's and switched to the Toyo At3's 295/70r18s this past fall, no complaints here. Like many I liked the looks of the Ridge Grapplers but they got obnoxiously loud after about 30k.20210215_141525.jpg

Same as a few above switched from RG's to Toyo ATIII's last month. Being lighter was my main reasoning. They are still new so they may get loud with wear but for now much better than my RG's were.

Brother just got AT3s on his t100. They look good, but not nearly as aggressive as my KO2s (both same size). That could be good or bad depending on what you're after in a tire...

Currently have the Toyo AT3s on our 4R and had some snow and ice all week. Did quite well.

I ran a set of RGs in the past on my Taco for ~30k miles. They were good in the snow initially and then got worse over time. At 30k they were loud and no good in anything slick. I know there near their lifetime, but I wont run back to them. Hope the AT3s do better.

RG is probably the best looking hybrid though.

Ive ran way too many tires and have had the KO2s twice. Neither set lasted more than 5k miles. I was not at all impressed with them. Stiff, small, and probably one of the worst Ive ran in the rain, which is all I get in the NW.

Tire threads always make me laugh... Not disagreeing with you, as some have shared the same as you. But I have KO2s with 25k miles and think they are an excellent tire. Still have lots of tread left. No issues in the rain. Excellent traction in the snow. I also live in the NW (E WA).

All "which tire thread" responses should have a mandatory "YRMV". Haha

Its ok to disagree with me, no need to preface that with a pretense that you're not disagreeing with me, only to disagree with me.

Personally, I'm happy you enjoy them.

I agree with your statement. We will all have different experiences. ALL the sets of KO2 I bought were a nightmare to balance. They were OK in the snow and OK in the rain. they did wear excellent and last a long time with proper rotations. They were also durable as hell. I never had a flat with them.
But, I was buying them because some diehard old school users kept telling me they were the best. Back in the day I didn’t do much tire homework.
Now that I do, I have realized that the tread patterns have come a long way and that BFG is still living in the past and living on reputation. Now that I’ve had the opportunity to put them side by side with a large competitor I have seen that they fall short in every category. Of course, YMMV.

Definitely disagreeing. I meant that I don't think your opinion should be ignored since mine is to the contrary. half a dozen guys I personally know run KO2s and love them. Not heard of the wet performance complaint from anyone in person, yet come across it online frequently.

Asking for tire opinions is like asking for mattress opinions. Hence the your results may vary disclaimer I propose everyone starts using when recommending tires. Haha. Lots of choices everyone should find one that fits their needs.

I think it comes down to LOOKS vs PERFORMANCE. RG is the best looking but the truth is AT3 is a better tire. Life decisions are hard!! I have a year to decide

BFG bad in rain for me here too. After 10k miles I could barely take off without spinning if any moisture around and scary as heck on standing water. Also would never perfectly balance. Falken Wildpeak are far superior for me and at 20k they still have 11/32nds tread left on the most worn tire and all the amazing squishy zig-zag sipes (I am doing a five tire rotation which I’m sure helps wear a little bit). Toyo Atiii looks like a tire with similar qualities and American made. That’s the direction I’d go from your choices

I currently run toyo R/T's on my tundra. More aggressive than a standard a/t but not as aggresive as a mud tire. They are really common down here. Ran them on my duramax as well.
